On a beautiful evening the Bald Eagle Area football team started it’s 2018 season off with a resounding 50-6 win over the visiting Trojans of Troy. Eagle quarterback Jaden Jones went 15-23 for 486 yards and 5td on the night, connecting with three different receivers who went over 100 yards.  Gage McCenahan with 6 for 167 and 2 tds, Matthew Reese with 4 catches for 130 yards and 1 td and Kaden Bittinger had 4 catches for 144 yards and a score. The TD to Bittinger tied the school record of 99 yards set my Jadens father, Dave.
“We just got beat by a better team tonight” said Troy Head Coach Jim Smith. They made the big plays, and some of them hurt us. I though our boys played hard. Tough. They didn’t give up. This was our first live action since we didn’t have a scrimmage, we’ll take it and learn from it.”
Defensively the Eagles had a solid group effort holding the Trojans to one score when the game was out of reach. Dylan Bisel had a scoop and score to start the scoring for the Eagles. Kael Gardner had another defensive score, tackling a Trojan player in the endzone for a safety with 6:15 left in the first half. “I thought defensively our guys played great” said Eagles head coach Jesse Nagle. “It’s always good when you get scores on defense.”
BEA will play Philipsburg-Osceola, a 32-14 loser to West Branch while Troy will try to rebound with Wellsboro.
