Carl Majer knows how to win football games. So do the Danville Ironmen. Tonight the Danville school board brought the two together and voted Majer in as the new head football coach to replace Mike Brennan who stepped away from football this year. Majer was in his second stint with the Northwest Rangers and had another successful season there, leading them to their first playoff appearance in several years, to add to his District 2 title and three Wyoming Valley Conference titles.

When asked why he chose to move Majer said “The opportunity came. I always wanted to try the next level up . With their successful season, Danville is that chance to move up being a 3A power.  I applied to Berwick back when that job was open and they told me I needed to go out and get some experience and success so that’s what I’m doing. I want to be a winner wherever I go.”

As for meeting the team, Carl is already impressed with the players he will be coaching. “I met a lot of them there at the meeting tonight. Those kids were like we used to be at Berwick. They were well behaved, attentive and they showed just how much focus they have. Mike and the staff at Danville have done an awesome job. I’m excited to get started.”

Carl said he has a tour of the facilities set up for tomorrow and will meet with the entire team to go over expectations. “At some point, as soon as possible, I’ll meet with all the staff there and talk to them. See if they’re on board with what I’m gonna bring to Danville” said Majer. The Ironmen and new head coach open the season with a scrimmage against North Schuylkill then begin season play at home vs Bloomsburg.
