Five Canton Warriors and three Muncy Indians were recognized by the PA Football Writers on the Class 1A All-State team.
Canton’s Riley Parker, Mason Nelson, Hayden Ward, Bailey Ferguson, and Weston Bellows made the list while Muncy’s Ross Eyer, Branson Eyer, and Jason Shuda also made the list.
Canton and Muncy’s rivalry over the last few years has been a great one as both teams have combined to win six out of the last seven District IV 1A championships, with Canton winning the last two, and coming up one game shy each year of playing for a state title.
On the offensive side of the ball are Pakrer (RB), Ross Eyer (WR), Mason Nelson (OL), and Branson Eyer (ATH). Defensively were Hayden Ward and Jason Shuda (LB), Ferguson was named a specialist, and Bellows an athlete.
Parker led the Warriors with 1,453 yards on 153 carries (9.5 avg) and scored 25 touchdowns as the Warriors made it all the way 1A semi-finals against Steelton-Highspire.
Nelson helped anchor a Warrior offensive line that rushed for 3,655 yards and accumulate 60 touchdowns.
Ross Eyer was Muncy’s leading receiver this year. At 6-foot, 5-inches, Eyer caught 27 passes for 672 yards and 14 TDs. He also returned 4 punts for 132 yards and a score.
Branson Eyer, Muncy’s QB, completed 51-of-91 passes for 1,165 yards and 19 TDs, he also rushed 30 times for 223 yards and 5 TDs.
Ward was 2nd on Canton with 109 tackles, but led the Warriors with 5 sacks. He also forced a fumble and recovered two.
Shuda was Muncy’s top tackler, accumulating 123 tackles.
Ferguson made 60 of his 68 attempted extra points and was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals, with his longest being a 33-yarder.
Bellows was a “jack of all trades” for Canton this year, throwing for 85 yards and a TD, rushing for 571 yards and 4 scores, and leading the Warriors with 290 yards on 17 receptions. He returned both a punt and kickoff for touchdowns and was 2nd on the squad with 1,495 all-purpose yards.
