In A Rain-Shortened Affair The Lancer Duo of Tyler Gee and Jayden Andrews Overwhelmed the South Defense

South Centre Twp- In a high school football all-star high school football game sometimes familiarity can be the best weapon. In a game that coaches have very little time to prepare for and with players coming from differing styles of play and not to mention being away from the gridiron eight months if you can get teammates together, especially on the offensive side of the ball can be a coaches dream.

No more was that evident Friday night at Central Columbia High School as Loyalsock’s dynamic duo of quarterback Tyler Gee and wide receiver Jaylen Andrews proved in the District 4 All-Star Game as the duo hooked up three times in the first half en route to a Convincing 30-3 North win over the South on a hot humid night. The game was called with 10:49 left in the final quarter due a lightning storm in Columbia County.

Gee, managed to complete 10 of 13 passes for 183 yards and earned Offensive player of the game for his effort. He will be attending Robert Morris University in the fall. Andrews caught 7 passes for 152 yards including two first quarter score and racking up 95 yards in the opening twelve minutes and being  chosen as the MVP unanimously.

The North jumped out to a quick 14 -0 lead on their first two drives as the Gee-to-Andrews connection hooked up for a 16 yard score on the opening drive capping off a eight play 62 yard march down field. After holding the South to a three-and-out. Gee would find Andrews for a 35 yard touchdown pass with just eleven seconds left in the quarter. On the drive South Williamsport’s Ryan Casell ripped off an 18 yard run. Andrews would have had touchdown called back on a  offensive pass interference call but he atoned for that mistake just a few plays later.

The South got their only score of the night on their next possession as, Hughesville’s Aiden Bartlett took the ensuing kickoff 67 yards to the North 26, however the drive would stall Carter Young of Selinsgrove booted a 43 yard field goal making the score 14-3. Adam Chonko, DB from Northwest Area came up with an intervention for the South thwarting a possible North touchdown, but again the South could not take advantage as on the first play from near their own goal line a bad snap led to a safety for the North and following the free kick  Andrews found himself on the back end of a 45 yard pass from Gee just 17 seconds later making the score 23-3 heading into intermission. The North had out gained the South 253-42 in the first half.

The heavy rain began in the third quarter as both teams had some issues holding onto the ball. The only score coming on a 44  yard run by Casella  straight up the middle to push the lead to 30-3. Casella led The rushing attack  with 129 yards on twelve carriesThe North did threaten one more time in the fourth quarter when Mountoursville’s Nate Fisher ripped off an 42 yard run to the South four, but several lightning strikes forced the officials to call the game.
