Selinsgrove’s defense shut out Milton 30-0 in the District IV 4A semi-finals on Friday, November 5.

The Seals’ D did an excellent job of containing the Black Panthers’ home-run threat, Xzavier Minium, all night en route to the win.

“I’m very pleased with the outcome and told the guys that is bar far our best team win on the season,” said Seals head coach Derek Hicks. “Offensively our line, but far their game of getting the push up front and creating some slope for Tucker (Teats) to run the football. Milton was packing the box and we were still able to get that push and get the yards. Credit to our offensive staff, they were patient and content with 4- and 5-yards a pop, kept the clock moving to ground out some drives. Then defensively that’s the best I’ve seen our guys swarm to the ball. We knew Minium was slippery, he’s a heck of a player, no matter where they put him, and did shake a couple of hits but we did a great job of flying to the football and cleaning that stuff up.”

With 1:33 remaining in the opening frame the Seals took the game’s first lead on 22-yard Carter Young field goal to make it 3-0. With 8:06 to play before the end of the first half Tucker Teats scored on an 8-yard run to extend the lead to 10-0.

Following an Ethan Miller interception the Seals added another score before the first half clock expired. Mark Pastore would find the end zone this time, on a QB sneak, to put Selinsgrove up 17-0 over Milton at halftime.

Selinsgrove put another quick score on the board to start the second half. After receiving the kickoff, the Seals went back to the ground attack with Teats, to move into Black Panther territory where Pastore connected with Gavin Bastian on a 38-yard strike, further extending the Seals lead to 23-0.

The Seals D added a late score on a 50-yard pick-six from Logan Outhoudt late in the fourth quarter.

Teats finished with 161 yards on 27 carries, Pastore completed 7-of-7 passes for 76 yards and a TD, and Bastian caught 4 passes for 58 yards and a score.

Next up for the Seals (9-2) is a rematch of last year’s District IV 4A final with Jersey Shore (11-0), next Friday at Thompson Street Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
