State College looked strong from the jump, and after just three plays junior Linebacker Michael Gaul jumped a pass and intercepted it giving State College good field position. They would capitalize on it with a D’Antae Sheffey touchdown (heads up I’ll be writing about a lot of those).

Williamsport’s next drive ended when the Little Lions forced a quick punt and scored soon after with a big 38 yard pass from Eddie Corkery to Ty Salazer to make it 14-0.
After that touchdown the teams would exchange punts till under duress from the constantly effective State College defensive line, Williamsport would throw an interception to D’Antae Sheffey giving state college the ball at the Williamsport 4. He would end up scoring his second touchdown a few plays later.

State College would strike again as Ty Salazer would return a 50+ yard punt to the house making it 28-0 before the first quarter was over.

The start of the second quarter would be more of the same as D’Antae Sheffey would score yet another touchdown making it 35-0 midway through the second quarter

Williamsport would get on the scoreboard with a 23 yard field goal late in the second and then recover a fumble. This lead to them striking again soon after with a Caleb Williamson pass to Semaj Hale resulting in a touchdown making it 10-35 late second quarter.

State College would answer back with a Ty Salazer reception from Eddie Corkery putting them on goal to go that D’Antae would punch in for his fourth of the day; that would be the last real action of the first half.

State College would score after the second half’s opening kickoff again with Sheffey having his 5th rushing touchdown making it 49-10 early in the third.
Right before the the start off the fourth quarter Khanif Carter would intercept a pass, and a few plays later Caleb Williamson would connect on a 40 yard pass making it 17-49 early fourth quarter.

The teams would exchange punts till Connor Poole would score the final points of the game with a 19 yard field goal with about 2 minutes left.

I also got a chance to catch up with Little Lions head coach Matt Lintal after the game. He was really proud of how his team performed, and shared that

“really excited for the kids to come in and just be able to put things together from the start to open up your season where you’re putting up 28 points and doing it in multiple
phases of the game was super exciting.”
“Our coaching staff did a tremendous job getting our kids ready for tonight and it showed from the get go.”

Both teams performed well; I was especially impressed with how well the State College D line performed as they seemed to be in the backfield every play causing pressure stopping the run or getting sacks. Both teams played hard and have a lot to look forward to for the rest of the season.
