Will Spochart

2021•Berlin-Brothersvalley•QB

I’m Will Spochart and I live in Berlin Pennsylvania. I’m a home grown kid who grew up on a dairy farm. I milked cows from 6 years of age on and ran the tractor across all fields. I play 3 sports all year around but also I attend the weight room at least 3 days a week before school or after practice. I love to study the game of football. I am always looking for something new to learn in the game.

Who is your favorite sports star and why?

Michael Vick is my favorite sports star. Him and I are both lefty quarterbacks and also like to run and scramble a lot. I love watching how he would take reads and keys. Also, him being left handed like me I love watching how he slings the ball around. He ran like no other quarterback but also could throw it like no other quarterback. I try to reflect my game off his and how he played the quarterback position.

Why do you play football?

I play football for many reasons but my top reason I play football is for my dad. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer but from the help of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, it has been removed. I always want to make him proud especially on the football field. Also, I play football to make my family name proud. My sister went to college for volleyball and she set the benchmark and I want to continue to make my last name proud. Football also creates a mental toughness factor that you can’t get in any other sport, which is another reason why I play football.

Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?

My grandfather would be my biggest fan. He is a retired dairy farmer in Berlin and now drives taxi full-time. He makes it to every single game he came to come watch me. He would work 14-16 hours on the farm and then would come to all my games. He is the definition of hard work and I try to have the same work ethic he has every single day. He always cheers me on and criticizes me when I need it.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

When not playing, practicing, or training you will usually see me on the slopes snowboarding. I am only 25 minutes from the best ski resort in Pennsyvlania which is Seven Springs. I got into it a few years ago and loved it ever since. Snowboarding helps on balance and also giving your legs a different activity which the legs and balance in snowboarding are key to being good at it. It is a fun activity to do with friends and it’s awesome to get better at it and try new tricks.
