2022 D5/D8 AA Regional Game Preview Westinghouse vs Berlin-Brothersvalley

On Thursday at Somerset High School, two undefeated and top AA teams in the state will meet in a D5/D8 regional game.  #2 state ranked Westinghouse from D8 will meet #8 state ranked Berlin-Brothersvalley from D5.  You can check out all the rankings here: PFN Rankings.  The winner of this game will play the winner of the Central Clarion / Brookville game.

Berlin-Brothersvalley

Berlin-Brothersvalley has put together one of the best seasons in the state.  Berlin is a perfect 11-0 and went the first 7 games without surrendering a point.  Berlin posted shutouts in 8 of 11 games.  The defense has only given up 39 points on the season.  Berlin has outscored their opponents 472-39.  The biggest win of the season, for Berlin, was against Windber 14-0.  Windber is the #6 state ranked class A team.  Berlin’s Junior Pace Prosser has 6 INTs on defense and passing has gone 99-160 for 1,634 yards with 23 TDs and 3 INTs. Prosser has also rushed 75 times for 507 yards and 8 TDs to lead Berlin in rushing.  Junior Cody Kimmel leads the team with 84 tackles.  Berlin has 17 sacks on the year with Senior Holby McClucas and Sophomore Cooper Huston with 5 sacks each.

Last week Berlin beat a tough Bedford team 27-12.  Prosser was 8-15 for 225 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT passing last week.  Prosser also rushed 29 times for 88 yards and 1 TD.  Senior WR Ryan Blubaugh had 3 receptions for 150 yards and 1 TD.  The Berlin defense held Bedford to 64 yards rushing and 182 total yards.

Westinghouse

Westinghouse has also put together a perfect 10-0 season.  Westinghouse has beaten 3 6A teams, 1 5A team, and 1 4A team.  Westinghouse also beat Steelton-Highspire 39-18.  Steel High is the #1 state ranked class A team.  Westinghouse also has a pretty stingy defense only giving up 8.5 points per game average.
