The Farrell Steelers made quick work of District 5 champion Tussey Mountain in the Round of 16 of the PIAA Class A state tournament.
The Steelers scored on nine of their first ten possessions and grabbed a 60-0 lead by the end of the third quarter en route to 60-14 thrashing of the Titans.
“For sure, we feel great about this game,” said Farrell head coach Anthony Pegues. “Overall, this was a great win. We have a few things we need to clean up if we want to keep moving on.”
Farrell’s speed, size, and overwhelming talent were too much for the Titans.
“We knew that coming into the game that we were a lot bigger and stronger up front,” said Pegues. “We knew they were a good team, they’re scrappy, but we knew we needed to come out and execute well, and that’s what we did.”
Sophomore running back Anthony Stallworth ripped off a 53-yard run to open the scoring. Jaden Harrison would score from four yards out as Farrell led 13-0 after a quarter.

Both Stallworth and Harrison broke the century-mark as Stallworth gained 140 yards in just eight carries while Harrison added 104 on 12 attempts.
A 29-0 run through the second quarter gave Farrell a 42-0 lead by halftime.
Tyrie Hammonds scored from a yard out 37 seconds into the second quarter, shortly followed by Brice Butler’s 61-yard punt return.
Stallworth would add a 37-yard run, while Ray Raver tossed a 2-yard score to Brian Hilton.
Farrell continued to pour it on in the third quarter as Sayvion Thomas broke loose for a 49-yard touchdown.
Anthony Jackson had only two carries in the game but made them count scoring on runs of 40 and 46 yards.
“I can’t even call them big ugly’s upfront,” said Pegues. “Our big pretty guys upfront get in there and do their thing. Even when they loaded up nine in the box, we were still going to run right at them.”
Tussey Mountain was able to score a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.
Tyler Rhodes hauled in a 31-yard touchdown from Matt Leonard on a 4th-and-8 play, while Kaden Lucko scored from on a 3-yard run with three minutes to play.

“We ran into an excellent football team that played with a lot of emotion today,” said Tussey Mountain head coach Anthony Sottasante. “That was the bottom line when you’re playing a team that’s physically superior to you. You have to play with more emotion to give yourself a chance.”
Lucko led the Titans with 64 yards on 18 carries, while Rhodes rushed three times for 14 yards and caught two passes for 63 yards.
Tussey Mountain closes their season at 11-2 with a District 5 championship.
“This game does not take away what we’ve accomplished this season,” said Sottasante. “Next year, we have a chance to have the best we’ve had since I’ve been at Tussey Mountain.”
Farrell meanwhile moves on the quarterfinals where they’ll meet District 9 champion Coudersport. The Steelers beat the Falcons 48-6 last season.
“We played them last year, we’ll watch some film on them, and we know they’re a dive-option team,” said Pegues. “They’re probably better than Tussey Mountain, so we need to come out and so our best.”
