Meyersdale Red Raiders(1-3) @ Conemaugh Valley Raiders (3-1)

Last Meeting- 9/22/18 Meyersdale 20-14

The first thing you noticed were two bleachers of students on the home sideline. The one on the left had band members and cheerleaders in blue and white uniforms. The one on the right had band members and cheerleaders in black and yellow. The bands performed separately at halftime. However the team was all in blue and white. The Conemaugh Valley- Ferndale Co-op is going great. Last year the two teams were a combined 2-18. This year as an one team they are 4-1.

Meyersdale got the ball first, made one first down and punted. CV then went 71 yards in ten plays overcoming a holding penalty to take the lead. Logan Kent powered in from 4 yards out and Nick Heltzel kick made it 7-0. The Red Raiders had a 3 and out and punted. The return was fumbled and Meyersdale got the ball back. Four plays later they failed on fourth down and turned the ball over.

The next drive for both teams ended with an interception. Collin Krause picked off the Blue Jays and Noah Heltzel intercepted the Red Raiders. Noah Heltzel then threw an 88 yard touchdown pass to Justin Mitchell. The play was called back because of a block in the back. The Blue Jays were are to overcome this and drove 85 yards in 13 plays to score. Noah Heltzel scored his first of two touchdowns. After a penalty moved the ball to the one, Kent ran in the two point conversion. It was 15-0 with 4:16 to go in the half. Meyersdale next two possessions were three and outs. CV blocked the punt on the first possession. Noah Heltzel who fumbled three times on the day broke loose down the right sideline but dropped the ball. It bounced right back up to him and he continued down the sideline to make it 22-0. It took the Blue Jays just one play to score after the second punt when Kent race 34 yards for a touchdown. Meyersdale got the ball and ran 2 plays before the half ended.

CV took the second half kickoff and drove 60 yards to make it 36-0. Noah Heltzel finished off the drive with his second touchdown run. The mercy rule started with 8:09 to go in the third quarter. Dylan Choctaw intercepted Briar Sheets on Meyersdale first possession of the second half. CV drove 50 yards for their final touchdown of the day. Noah Heltzel 15 yard pass to Justin Mitchell made it 43-0. Meyersdale would finally crack the scoreboard on their next possession. Sheets hit Devin Danica for a 59 yard touchdown.
