Johnstown – Garrett Harrold threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead the South All-Stars to a 21-14 victory over the North Friday night at the Ken Lantzy All-Star Classic.

On a beautiful night for football the South began the contest driving 67 yards to the North 1-yard line, Harrold threw incomplete on fourth-and-goal.

Following a three-and-out the South took advantage of great field position and Harrold of Penn Cambria and a Duquesne commit threw a dime to Berlin BrothersValley’s Ryan Blubaugh for a 31-yard touchdown on the ensuing snap to a 7-0 lead.

Both teams struggled to score at the goal line in the second quarter – faced with a 4th-and-1 from the 2-yard line with a chance to go up 21-0 a mishandled snap by Daulton Sellers resulted in the North recovering the fumble at their 4-yard line.

Likewise, with it still a 7-0 game in the second stanza’s opening minute the North drove 87 yards to the South’s 1-yard line where a bad snap was recovered by the North back at their 13-yard line.

On the following drive, the South would expand their lead to 14-0 when Harrold tossed a 38-yard touchdown on a flea-flicker to a wide-open Forest Hills product Jeremy Burda with 11:32 to play in the first half.

Garrett Harrold completed 12-of-23 passes for 213 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while also rushing for 54 yards.

The South would hold the 14-0 lead heading into the locker room.

To begin the second half the North would get on the scoreboard driving 80 yards in 11 plays capped off by Northern Cambria’s Colton Paronish, who scored on a 3-yard run on 4th-and-goal to make it a 14-6 game with 9:47 to play in the third quarter.

Paronish rushed for a team-high 36 yards (all in the second half), but the North as a team could not establish any rushing attack and was held to negative one yard for the game.

Making up for an earlier blunder, Meyersdale’s Daulton Sellers went airborne and scored from three yards out pushing the South’s lead to 21-6 with 13:36 to play.

Sellers rushed for 40 yards and threw for 38 more on 3-of-6 passing.

Things got interesting late in the fourth quarter as Northern Cambria’s Owen Bougher threw a 15-yard touchdown to Richland’s Sam Penna with 11 seconds to play – the subsequent two-point conversion (the Philly Special) made it a 7-point game, but the South recovered the onside kick to preserve the win.

Owen Bougher threw for 210 yards on 13-of-22 passing, while Conemaugh Township’s Tanner Shirley threw for 147 yards on 8-of-13 passing with an interception.

Shirley’s Township teammate Ethan Black led all receivers with seven grabs for 125 yards.
