
2022 D6 6A Championship Game Preview Altoona vs State College

The 2022 D6 6A Football playoffs consisted of 3 teams. #1 State College, #2 Altoona, and #3 Mifflin County. Altoona beat Mifflin County last week 31-24. This Friday, State College and Altoona will play for the D6 6A Championship at Bald Eagle Area High School. The winner of this game will play the winner of the McDowell / Allerdice game next weekend. These two teams are looking to end their season with a Trip to the Chap for the 6A State championship on December 10th.
#1 State College (10-0) vs. #2 Altoona (6-5)
This game is a rematch from a game that happened on 9/16. State College won this game 55-14. State College jumped out to a big halftime lead (35-7). Freshman RB D’Antae Sheffey had 13 carries for 125 yards and 1 TD. Senior QB Finn Furmanek was 7-9 for 115 yards and 1 TD passing and added 37 yards rushing and 2 TDs. Senior WR Donte Nastasi had 7 receptions for 75 yards receiving. Altoona was held in check most of the game. Junior QB Brennen Freiwald was 3-5 for 95 yards passing and was the leading rusher, for Altoona, with 30 yards on 10 carries. Altoona beat Mifflin County last week 31-24. Freiwald was 4-10 for 41 yards with 1 INT passing. Senior RB Alexander Yost rushed 28 times for 143 yards and 2 TDs. Freshman RB Julian Hazlewood carried the ball 12 times for 130 yards and 1 TD. Altoona’s defense had 4 sacks in the game led by Junior Evan Boose with 2 sacks. State College is looking to keep their perfect season intact. State College beat Williamsport 17-14 in last year’s D6 6A championship. State College went on to lose to the eventual 6A State Champion Mount Lebanon 49-28 in the state semifinals. State College had a bye last week and last played on 10/28 with a win against Chambersburg 36-7. State College is averaging over 38 points per game and outscored their opponents 388-148 on the season.
