Bellwood Antis runs away with a big win over Penns Valley in a 49-28 1st round playoff game in Bellwood.

Penns Valley would win the opening coin toss, electing to receive the ball. Taking the ball on their own 37 yard line, Penns Valley’s Jackson Romig would find a wide open Zach Braucht on 63 yard touchdown pass. The extra point by Ty Watson was good, with 11:44 left in the 1st quarter it was 7-0 Penns Valley. Bellwood Antis would come right back with a score of their own, taking the kickoff on their won 44 yard line. Moving the ball with a series of running plays, Bellwood Antis running back Connor Gibbons would score from 10 yards out, extra point by Dominic Caracciolo was good, with 6:44 left in the 1st quarter, the Bkue Devils would tie this game 7-7.

Penns Valley’s Miles Brooks  fumbled the kickoff with Hunter Shawley recovering for the Blue Devils on the Penns Valley 12 yard line. Two plays later, Cooper Guyer would scamper in from 3 yards out. Extra point was good, with 5:22 left in the 1st quarter Bellwood Antis would lead 14-7. Penns Valley went 3 and out, punting the ball right back to the Blue Devils. The Blue devils then moved the ball at will, with Connor Gibbons scoring once again from 3 yards out. Extra point was good, with 36 seconds left in the 1st quarter, Bellwood Antis now lead the Rams 21-7.

Penns Valley battled back after getting the ball on their own 45. A 5 yard penalty putt the ball on the 40, but Jackson Romig founhd a wide open Danin Kerstetter down the sideline for a 60 yard Rams touchdown. Extra point was good, with 7 seconds left in the 1st quarter, the Rams cut the lead to 21-14.

Bellwood Antis was done yet, taking the ball down the field, with Zach Pellegrine finding a wide open Hunter Shawley on a 24 yard pass play for a Blue Devils touchdown, the kick from Dominic Caracciolo was good, with 9:06 left in the 2nd quarter, it was Bellwood Antis 28, Penns Valley 14. The Blue Devils and Rams would both have to punt the ball away on their next series. The Rams couldn’t get it going and went 3 and out giving the ball right bac;k to the Blue Devils. They wasted no time in scoring again, with Zach  Pellegrine finding Hunter Shawley over the middle for another Blue Devils score. Extra point was good, with 3:06 remaining in the half, the Blue Devils would jump out to a 35-14 lead.

Penns Valley gpt the ball on their own 33 yard line, four plays later, Jackson Romig found Zach Braucht open on a 44 yard Rams touchdown. Extra point by Ty Watson was good, with 58 seconds remaining in the 1st half, the Rams cut the lead to 35-21. Bellwood Antis would run out the clock to end the 1st half. The Rams kicking off to start the 2nd half would try a little trickery with an onside kick being muffed by the Blue Devils and the Rams Micah Good recovered the ball on the 42 yard line. The Rams would waste no time scoring again in 3 plays, with Jackson Romig finding Hunter Lyons in the corner of the endzone on a 20 yard pass play. Ty Watson would hit the extra point, now cutting the score to the Blue Devils 35, the Rams 28.

The Blue Devils would come right back with another score, with Alex Kovac racing in from 14 yards out. Extra point was good, with 4:03 left in the 3rd quarter, Bellwood Antis extended their lead to 42-28. Penns Valley going 3 and out, gave another opportunity to the Blue Devils, with Zach Pellegrine hitting Sean Mallon on a 31 yard pass for a score. Extra point was good, 9:16 remaining in the game, it was Bellwood Antis 49, Penns Valley 28.

The Rams would try once again with a trick play, but would result in Miles Brooks throwing an interception o the Blue Devils Nick Kost. The Rams defense would step up, forcing the Blue Devils to punt the ball away. Miles Brooks would fumble the ball away on the next play from scrimmage, giving the ball right back to Bellwood Antis.

Time would be running out in this game, with Bellwood Antis kneeling the ball down to end the game. Final score in this one, Bellwood Antis 49, Penns Valley 28. This would bring Penns Valley’s season to an end, with the Rams finishing 6-5. Bellwood Antis will move on in the playoffs taking on the Richland Rams.
