Bellwood—The Bellwood Blue Devils used a strong rushing attack led by running back Colin Gibbons to defeat the Huntingdon Bearcats 20-14 at John Hayes Memorial Stadium Friday night.

The Bearcats started off the scoring on the evening as running back Landon Erdman took the inside hand off from quarterback Elliott Guisler and raced 36 yards through the Blue Devil defense for the score with 9:34 to go in the 1st Quarter.  Kaiden Snare added the extra point to give Huntingdon the early 7-0 lead.

Bellwood scored on their ensuing drive on a 25-yard run by Gibbons. A failed 2-pt conversion made the score 7-6 in favor of Huntingdon.

The score remained that way until right before half as Bellwood put together a long drive that culminated in a 1-yard TD run by Cayden Pellegrine with 13 seconds to go.  The Blue Pirates went for two and converted as quarterback Holden Schreier found Pellegrine wide open in the end zone for the conversion giving Bellwood a 14-7 lead at halftime.

The Blue Devils continued the scoring in the 3rd quarter as Gibbons continued to pound the Bearcat defense and plunged into the endzone from 5 yards out.  After the failed PAT attempt, Bellwood led 20-7.

Huntingdon tried to make it a game late as Eric Mykut replaced Guisler at quarterback and orchestrated a late scoring drive for the Bearcats culminating in a 7-yard TD pass to Erdman with 1:43 to go in the 4th.  Snare once again converted the PAT cutting the Bellwood lead to 20-14.

Bellwood would simply run out the clock to move to 3-0 on the year as the Bearcats now fall to 0-3.
