Big plays were the name of the game this evening for the Rams of Penns Valley as they scored from long distance on 4 separate occasions to beat the Huntingdon Bearcats 41-14.
With 9:01 to go in the first quarter Jackson Romig connected with Miles Brooks on a 34 yard slant that gave the Rams the early 7-0 lead. Five minutes later Ty Watson plowed his way in from the 1-yard line to give PV a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.
In the 2nd, Romig again found Brooks wide open, this time from 38 yards out. Watson connected on his third PAT and PV had the Bearcats in a large 21-0 hole with 3:19 to play.
The Bearcats didn’t show any quit, as Eric Mykut connected for a 38 yard strike with his favorite receiver Tyler Long to put Huntingdon at the PV 4. One play later, Ashton Steele found pay dirt. A missed PAT made the score 21-6 in favor of the Rams. However, PV wasn’t finished. In a very quick 5 play drive, the Rams found themselves at the Bearcat 1 yard line with 7 seconds to go in the half. A QB sneak play by Romig from the 1 put the half time score at 27-6 in favor of the Rams.
It didn’t take long in the third quarter for the explosive Rams offense to find the endzone again. This time Watson raced 37 yards through the Bearcat defense to make the score 34-6. Three minutes later, Brooks again was the target of a long pass, this time from backup Jarrett Stover as the two hooked up for a 44 yard TD pass play that gave the Rams a 41-6 lead and the start of the rolling clock.
The Bearcats closed out the scoring with 6:35 to go as Mykut once again found Long on deep go route this time for 36 yard touchdown.
PV racked up 400 yards of total offense on the evening while limiting the Bearcats to 210.
