Highlanders ground Comets
In a game that reminded you of the early days of football Cambria Heights beat Penns Manor 21-0. Both teams seemed content to run the ball into the line 3 times and punt for territory. The game was vastly different than last years 42-33 Penns Manor victory. Cambria Heights had a nice opening drive going 54 yards in seven plays after holding the Comets to a three and out. For the next three quarters neither team did much on offense. There were a lot of punts, some failed fourth down conversions, but no penalties, no turnovers and no points until the fourth quarter. The first three quarters saw each team get six possessions. The Comets punted five times and had the half run out on them. The Highlanders scored once, punted twice and turned it over on downs three times. The fourth quarter seems to last as long as the first three. The Comets had three possessions two turnovers and turned in over on downs. The Highlanders had four possessions. They scored twice, turn it over on downs and kneeled on the ball. Both teams tried a few passes but basically stuff to the ground game. Their wasn’t a penalty until 8:20 to go in the game when CH was called for a personal foul. The Comets committed a false start on the next play. Marshall Eckenrode picked off an Amin Lieb pass at 6:48 of the fourth, the games first turnover. The Comets best drive of the night was there last. They drove inside the Highlanders red zone before fumbling the ball away. Both teams are now 3-2 and setting in the middle of the Heritage Conference pack. The Comets managed only about 120 yards of total offense. The Highlanders about 275 yards.
