Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Game

Last Meeting 9/13/19  CH 37 @ BM 15

Bishop McCort was looking to make the playoffs. Cambria Heights was looking to get to .500. I was looking for a good game. Two of us got our wishes.  BM almost broke the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Crushers starting at their own 40 picked up two first downs. The drive stalled and a 49 yard field goal was short.  The Highlanders responded with an 80 yard drive that took over eight minutes off the clock. Junior running back Ryan Haluska, a real workhorse all night scored from 1 yard out with 50 seconds to go in the first quarter. BM drove from their own 27 to the CH 23 before failing on an incomplete pass on 4th and 3.  The conversion failed due to a bad snap. The Highlanders took over and immediately drove to the Crusher 35 before losing the ball on a fumble. BM picked up a first down, before a penalty and a sack ended the drive. A bright spot for the Crushers was punter/kicker Will Haslett who made both conversions and changed field position several times with his punts. His 46 yard punt penned the Highlanders back on their 10. With just under two minutes to go in the half, senior receiver Jared Fox went 78 yards on a reverse (#3) for the Highlanders second touchdown. The Crushers starting at their own 43 had the ball for only 47 seconds before punting it back to CH. Three penalties pushed ball back to the 28. Haslett hit a 48 yard punt driving CH back to their own 24. The Highlanders instead of running out the half, tried a double reverse and fumbled the ball. BM recovered at the 20. Junior tackle Joe McGowan recovered for the Crushers. One play later sophomore quarterback Trystan Fornari hit junior receiver Josh Goins on a slant pass to cut the lead to five points. The half ended with the score 12-7 Highlanders.

CH took the second half kickoff and drove 78 yards in about four and a half minutes. Haluska capped the drive with his second touchdown of the night. The two point conversion made it 20-7. BM starting at their own 26 had multiple penalties and had to punt. Haslett hit another 46 yard punt pinning CH at their 10. The Highlanders pick up a couple of first downs before BM partially blocked their punt. BM starting at the CH 45 with just over eleven minutes to go in the game. A halfback option picked up 20 and a few plays later Fornari threw his second touchdown. This one to senior Amir Andrews. The Crushers were within one score with just over ten minutes to go. The Highlanders would go 60 yards after a very short kickoff. The drive would use up seven minutes 50 seconds and end with Haluska’s third touchdown. BM held the ball the last two minutes but were unable to score as time ran out.
