It was a picture perfect Friday Night for football!

To say 0-5 Hollidaysburg had a tough schedule this year is an understatement. The first four teams they’ve played this year are a combined 20-4 heading into Friday night. Their next 4 opponents have a combined 7 losses. But tonight, it was 1-4 Bellefonte on the schedule. And quite honestly, it didn’t look like either team wanted to get the ball rolling. But with just over four minutes to play in the first half, the ball did roll. And it rolled in favor of the Tigers when a Bellefonte player lost control of a Tiger punt that was recovered by Hollidaysburg at the Raider 16. Three plays later Tucker Rossman found Ralph Albarano in the corner of the endzone for a score and the Tigers were on their way to a 31-0 win, their first of the season.

“Our defense has been playing great all year long. We have a lot of young players out there.” said Tiger head coach Homer DeLattre. In the first half it was one of those things where one guy at a time wasn’t doing their job.” The defense sacked Bellefonte qb Trevor Johnson three times in the first half and was constantly disrupting the pass. Special teams also played a role in the win for the Tigers. Bellefonte had a chance to score in the 2nd quarter but the 37 yard field goal attempt was blocked. The score remained 7-0 for the rest of the first half.

“In the second half we ran the ball more” said DeLattre. The second half was a different story for Hollidaysburg. The Tigers took their first possession straight to the endzone with Rossman scoring from three yards out to increase their lead to 14-0. Special teams again came up big. Ben Sosnowski attempted an onside kick and it was successful, then he nailed a 23 yard field goal to go along with his 4 touchbacks. The Tigers never looked back.

Drew Wyland scored from three yards out and then the back breaker, a one play 42 yard td pass from Rossman to Wyland made it 31-0.

Hollidaysburg hosts Oil City and running back Ethen Knox who will bring his 2,107 yards with him while Bellefonte will look for their second win at 1-5 Huntingdon.
