Little Lions Lineup for Battle in Inter Conference Game

The Altoona Mountain Lions (2-1) travel to State College (1-1) for this District 6 and Mid Penn Commonwealth matchup. These teams are quite familiar with each other and to be honest, don’t like each other. Altoona is coming off a 35-0 shutout of Mifflin County and State College’s game against Hollidaysburg was postponed due to weather until ultimately being canceled. State
College has won the last three games, and most recently the 6a District 6 Championship 28-7. In that game D’Antae Sheffey ran for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns.

In this matchup State College may try to go back to what’s worked for them and run the ball with Sheffey, since in his two matchups against Altoona he’s rushed for 301 yards. It will be up to the offensive line lead by seniors Colin Dardis and Jake Hohenshelt to create space for the back. State College also could use the arm of Eddie Corkery who’s had a very strong season so far. On the Defensive side State College will be challenged by Altoona’s infamous triple option so it will be up to the front 7 to stop them from breaking off a run. Justin Castro-Dixon and Sam Mayer will be the first line of defense against any potential runs Altoona will attempt to make. Part of the reason Altoona’s Offense works so well is the unpredictability and the chance they will throw the ball is something this defense will have to look out for

The Mountain Lion Offense is led by seniors Bron Mosley and Brennen Freiwald. Mosley leads the team with 7 touchdowns scored and averages 136 yards on the ground. Freiwald has 4 touchdown passes this year. The offensive line has done a good job creating space and room to run led by senior center Hayden Speece. The defense is also led by Mosley and Sophomore Logan Wuckovich, who leads in tackles. The Mountain Lion defense has also created turnovers effectively which led to four interceptions last game, two of which were by Wcukovich.
So will Altoona use their options to beat the Little Lions or will State College continue their success against Altoona?
