After a gritty 27-20 win over the Penns Valley Rams, the Tyrone Golden Eagles sit perfect at 4-0 and will look to keep it that way this Friday against the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties (1-3).
Philipsburg’s only win was against the 0-5 Huntingdon Bearcats. They have lost to the Central Dragons (5-0), Clearfield Bison (2-1), and Bald Eagle Eagles (2-2).
Regardless of their record, Philipsburg always plays their opponents tough and makes them work for the win. If Tyrone wants to stay undefeated, the Golden Eagles must bring their A-game.
Tyrone has not lost to the Mounties in the last 17 years and hopes to keep the streak alive.
Through its first four games, Penns Valley’s offense has been one dimensional, relying almost exclesively on the run.
Against Bald Eagle, Mounties quarterback Ryan Whitehead threw for only 3 completions on 12 attempts and one interception.
On the ground, Philipsburg rushed for 123 yards on 34 carries, averaging 3.6 yards per carry using a spread of ball carriers.
