Jonathan Delia had him a game. The junior running back piled up 167 yard rushing with a td, hauled in a 34 yard toe tap td and blocked a punt to help lead the Crushers to a 28-0 shut out of Bellefonte at Rogers Stadium. “First of all he’s a great kid. He’s a great student at McCort and he had a heck of a night” said Crusher head coach head coach Tom Smith. “He’s been showing that he belongs at the top end of the league at that position. He’s only a junior, we’ve always know he’s a pretty special player”.
It was go from the start for McCort. They took the opening drive and, starting at their 18, drove the length of the field on 14 plays finishing with a one yard plunge by quarterback Angelo Gallucci. The kick after made it 7-0 Crushers with 4:45 left in the first quarter.

The drive was telling for Bellefonte as they would have trouble stopping the McCort running attack all night long. Gallucci and Delia carried the ball most of the drive. Disaster struck early for the Raiders on the ensuing kick when the ball hit the Bellefonte player and McCort recovered at the Bellefonte 33. Delia carried the ball four times getting the Crushers to the seven and Gallucci finished the drive with a dive into the endzone putting McCort up 14-0.

Holding the momentum, the Crusher defense stopped the Raider attack and forced a punt. Gallucci wasted no time getting the Crushers into the endzone again. First a throw to Nick Dressick for 22 yards, then he carried for 12 more. Delia finished off the drive with a 4 yard td run to put the Crushers up 21-0 with almost 9 minutes still to play in the first half. On the ensuing kick a serious issue happened when a Bellefonte play went down with an injury. The player was taken off the field on a stretcher and left by ambulance. Following the time out the Raiders mounted a drive that reached the Crusher 26 but that’s as close to the endzone as they would get all night. McCort forced a punt and, with time running out in the first half, got to the Bellefonte 21. A penalty and a sack dropped them back to the 32 where, with no time remaining in the half, Gallucci found Delia who made an awesome toe tap td catch that closed out the scoring.

“Honestly, I had no clue who that pass was intended for but I’m glad he got it” Gallucci said of the play.”But first I have to give the credit to our line. They made it possible.”
“He’s been playing solid for us the last three weeks. He had great leadership skills out there and they struggled to stop him tonight. That is one good football team over there, don’t get me wrong. It’s important to say that. I have a lot of respect for them, those boys play hard but tonight just wasn’t their night” said Smith.
Bellefonte took the second half kickoff and failed to move the ball. On the punt, Delia came flying in from the edge and blocked the punt setting McCort up at the Raider 14 but a field goal attempt came up short. McCort had one more chance to score but came up 1 yard short on fourth down at the Raider ten yard line.
McCort outgained the Raiders racking up 347 total yards of offense. Gallucci was a solid 6/10/110 yards with 1 td pass and ran for 70 more with a td. Bellefonte managed just 88 yards of offense on the night. Bellefonte (5-3) will face winless Huntingdon next week and the Crushers (5-3) have a tough one with 8-0 Penn Cambria.
