The Mifflin County School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Shane Breon as the Huskies Head Football Coach for the 2022-2023 season. We are fortunate to have a coach who will bring vast experience and knowledge of the game and community to Mifflin County.Coach Breon was born and raised in Lewistown, playing football and baseball at Chief Logan High School. After high school he graduated from Lock Haven University with a B.S. in Computer Science.

Coach Breon has coordinated both offense and defense at the Varsity level over his career and is familiar with the Mid-Penn Conference. He got his start coaching running backs at Central Dauphin East in 2001. He then assisted with defensive ends and coached the offensive line while at Harrisburg for two seasons under the legendary George Chaump. After taking some time off to help raise his three children, he returned to coaching football, this time as the Head Midget Coach at Northern York for five years, as his son came up through the youth
levels. While in that role, he doubled the number of players participating. He was offered the offensive coordinator position at Trinity High School in Camp Hill where his Air-Raid offense accounted for over 2200 passing yards in 2015, leading the Mid-Penn Capital Division. After his brief stay at Trinity, he moved on to Susquenita where he was the Defensive Coordinator for all four of his years there and saw his defenses rank in the top 3 of the Tri-Valley League in 2018 and 2019.

Most recently, he has been Co-Offensive Coordinator responsible for the run game while also coaching receivers at Central York High School coaching under 2020 6A coach of the year Gerry Yonchiuk, with whom he got his start back in 2001 at Central Dauphin East. As the run game coordinator and receivers coach in the Central York Air-Raid offense, the Panthers have run for 175 yards per game and averaged nearly 400 yards of total offense per game over the last two years, including playoff games and have gone undefeated in back-to-back seasons in Division 1 of the York Adams League. In 2020 Central York made it to the 6A State Championship game, falling to private school power St. Joe’s Prep. Last year, the undefeated Panthers were upset by Wilson in the D3 6A semi-final game.

Breon views this as his dream job, coming back to coach where he grew up and where his father was a teacher and coach at both Chief Logan and Indian Valley High Schools. He plans to run a power spread offense using core Air-Raid passing concepts and be multiple on the defensive side of the ball.

Coach Breon is married to Beth and has 3 children, Nathan who just graduated from PSU, Brooke (Lancaster Bible College) and Jenna (Palm Beach Atlantic).
Mifflin County is excited to have Coach Breon return to Mifflin County to lead the Huskies well into the future.
