No Fans, Big Foul Marauders shutout Hilltoppers!

Westmont Hilltoppers vs Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at Mansion Park

Last Meeting 8/31/19 @Westmont 27-7 Hilltoppers win

Bishop Guilfoyle evened it’s record at 2-2. The Marauders scored more points than fans in attendance at last nights game. The game started with a typical Westmont drive. The Hilltoppers started at their own 28 and drove deep into BG territory before throwing an interception on 4th down. The drive used up over seven and a half minutes on 12 plays(11 runs). It would be Westmont’s best possession of the game. The Marauders would drive 55 yards and took over five and a half minutes off the clock before scoring the games first points in the second quarter. Senior Marauder quarterback Konnor Kiesewetter hit Haiden Garner for the touchdown after a holding penalty negated an earlier touchdown. Westmont went three and out on their next possession. BG drove 61 yards on their next possession to make it 14-0. Kiesewetter capped the drive with his second touchdown pass to Keegan Myrick. Westmont’s third drive started at their 27 and got to the BG 34 before they turned it over on downs. The nine play drive lasted four and a half minutes. BG took a knee and went into the locker rooms up 14-0.

The Marauders started the second half by playing Westmont style of football (ball control). They took almost six minutes off the clock before punting. The punt went 49 yards and was downed on the Westmont 1. Two plays later quarterback Alex Ray was driven out of the back of the end zone for a safety.

BG starting at the Westmont 46 after the free kick drove to the Westmont 1. The drive used up almost six and a half minutes and ended with a Devin Wyandt field goal of 18 yards. Westmont would turn the ball over on downs at their own 24 on their next possession. Kiesewetter third touchdown pass capped this drive. Kiesewetter hit Garner for his second score. They reversed the pass for the two point conversion with Garner throwing to Kiesewetter. BG then recovered the squib kick. Kiesewetter capped this drive with a quarterback sneak. The two point conversion failed. The BG back ups won the final few minutes with the Marauders Karson Kiesewetter running one into the end zone.

Westmont was shut out for the second straight game and Bishop Guilfoyle won its second straight game after two losses. Now for the big foul. Why can’t we have fans at a 10,000 seat stadium? It’s not fair to the kids -bottom line!
