Penns Valley gets back on winning track with 40-7 win over Huntingdon

With week 2 in the books, and Penns Valley coming off of a tough loss to Richland last week, jumped out to a big lead in this game against Huntingdon, never looking back. These two teams were pretty evenly matched with being young and having 12 Seniors each. Penns Valley won the opening toss and deferred the ball until the second half. Huntingdon took the kickoff, getting the ball on their own 25 yard line, two plays later, fumbled the ball away with Penns valley recovering on the 39 yard line.

Neither team could move the ball on their next series, with Huntington attempting to punt away , the ball sailed over the head of Ashton Steele with Penns Valley recovering on the 3 yard line. First play from scrimmage, Quarterback Rylee Brungart scampered in from 3yards out for the Penns valley score. Point after attempt by Cole Felker was good, with the Rams leading 7-0 with 5:14 left in the first quarter.

On Huntingdons next series, Quarterback Ashton Steele threw an interception to Zach Braucht, who returned the ball for a Penns Valley touchdown. Extra point by Cole Felker was good with the score Penns Valley 14 Huntingdon 0 with 5:00 to go in the 1st quarter. Huntingdon fumbled the ball away on their next series, recovered by Penns Valley’s Miles Brooks on the 35 yard line.

Penns Valley was able to move the ball down the field with Jarrett Stover scoring on a quarterback keeper from 33 yards out. Extra point was good with Penns Valley now leading 21 -0 with 3:05 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Neither team could move the ball on their next 2 each series. Huntingdon punted the ball away, putting Penns Valley on the move once again. A 64 yard run by Ty Watson set up a 4 yard run by quarterback Jarrett Stover, extra point was no good, with Penns Valley leading 27-0 at halftime. Penns Valley received the second half kickoff, but quarterback Rylee Brungart threw an interception to Jack Foster with Huntingdon taking over on the Penns Valley 17 yard line. The Penns Valley defense stepped up stopping the Huntingdon drive on the 8 yard line with the Rams taking over on the 8 yard line. With a loss of 3 yards on the first play, Penns Valley put together some plays and move the ball to the Huntingdon 20 yard line, next play from scrimmage Tanner ILgen raced in from 20 yards out for the Penns Valley score, point after was no good. With 6:30 left in the 3rd quarter, Penns Valley 33 Huntingdon 0.

Both teams traded interceptions to run out the clock, ending the 3rd quarter. Penns Valley unable to move the ball had to punt away. Huntingdon grabbed so momentum moving the ball with a series of passes and runs with Huntingdon gets on the board from Lincoln Miller scoring from 1 yard out. Extra point by Eric Mykut was good. With 6:07 remaining in the 4th quarter it was Penns Valley 33 Huntingdon 7. Penns Valley scored on their next series with a 1 yard run by Mason Greene, extra point was good with the final score, Penns Valley 40 Huntingdon 7. Next week sees Huntingdon traveling to Philipsburg and Penns Valley traveling to Clearfield
