Richland cruises to 54-14 win over Penns Valley @rhsfootball

When Penns Valley and Richland lost their opponents late this week, the two quickly hooked up to play each other.  Both teams have recently met in the playoffs with Richland getting the better of Penns Valley each time.  Tonight was not much different as the talent laden Richland Rams cruised to a 54-14 win over a very young Penns Valley team.

Penns Valley won the coin toss and elected to defer the kickoff.  Cole Felker kicked off for Penns Valley. Grayden Lewis received the put for Richland, taking the ball to their own 34. After some pass completions by Richland quarterback Kellan Stahl, he found Sam Penna in the end zone for a 5 yard touchdown pass. The extra point attempt by Chris Cordek was good, giving Richland a 7-0 lead with 11:09 left in the first quarter. The Rams never looked back.

Penns Valley wasn’t able to make a first down and punted the ball away. Richland came right back with their passing game with Stahl finding Griffan Larue in the end zone for another Richland score. Point after attempt by Chris Cordek the score was Richland 14 Penns Valley 0 with 6:28 remaining in the 1st quarter. The Rams, unable to move the ball again, punted away with 4:55 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Richlands  Grayden Lewis took the handoff for an 11 yard scamper for a Richland touchdown. The extra point attempt was good giving Richland a 21 – 0 lead with 3:10 remaining in the 1st quarter. Once again the Rams were unable to move the ball. With 1:09 remaining in the 1st quarter, Stahl kept the ball for a quarterback sneak on a 4 yard run for another Richland touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good.

Penns Valley would run out the clock, ending the 1st quarter. Unable to move the ball Penns Valley punted away with the ball went off the side of the foot of  Jackson Romig for a short punt giving Richland good field position. Evan McCracken would take the ball in on a 6 yard run for a Richland touchdown. Point after was good making the score Richland 34 Penns Valley 0 .

On the ensuing series, Penns Valley quarterback  Rylee Brungart threw an interception, setting up yet another Richland touchdown on an 11 yard run by  Griffan Larue, point after was good making the score Penns Valley 0 Richland 41 with 8:34 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Penns Valley would fumble the ball away on their next possession. A 37 yard pass from Kellan Stahl to  Griffin Larue resulted in another Richland touchdown, the point after was good with the score Richland 48 Penns Valley 0  with 2:10 left in the 2nd quarter. That would end the half.

Penns Valley received the kickoff to start the 3rd quarter, driving down the field,  Rylee Brungart hit  Cole Felker on a pass play, but Felker fumbled the ball on the 3 yard line and Richland would recover. After changing some personnel, Richland was unable to move the ball, punting away with 2:31 left in the 3rd quarter.

Penns Valley would move the ball, but Quarterback  Jarrett Stover threw an interception to stop the drive. Richland was unable to move the ball on their next possession, that would end the 3rd quarter.

Penns Valley would finally get on the board with a 9 yard run by  Ty Watson. The point after by  Cole Felker was good with 7:21 remaining in the 4th quarter, Richland 48 Penns Valley 7 . Richland would move the ball down the field on their next possession scoring on a 3 yard run by Easton Robertson with 2:56 left in the game, point after was no good with the score 54-7 Richland.

Penns Valley would come back and score one final time n a 40 yard run by  John Meyers, point after was good, with 1:43 remaining in the game, Richland would run the clock out on their final possession, with the final score Penns Valley 14 Richland 54.

Penns Valley will be at home next Friday night for Senior Night against Huntingdon while Richland travels to Westmont on Saturday.
