Last Meeting: 9/18/20 West Shamokin 14 @ Homer-Center 54

On a night where Homer-Center head coach Greg Page was going for his 100th career win and West Shamokin’s star quarterback Bo Swartz was looking to keep the Wolves undefeated, something had to give. The game was sort of like a pro football game. It was three hours long. It had Bo Swartz throwing the ball all over the field and the game being decided by turnovers.

The Wildcats got the ball first and drove 65 yards in four and a half minutes, mostly on the ground. Landon Hill who ran hard all night scored the first of his two touchdowns. The two point conversion made it 8-0 Homer-Center. The Wolves took exactly one minute to tie the score. The big play was a Bo Swartz to Owen Stover pass play that covered 49 yards. Kamden Eddy caught the first of Swartz’s 4 touchdown passes and Stover hauled in the two pointer to tie the game at 8-8. The Wildcats next drive covered 76 yards in five and a half minutes. Wildcat quarterback Cole Mcanulty scored on a fourth and five from the Wolves six. Noah Henry caught his second straight two-pointer from Mcanulty and it was 16-8 Homer. The Wildcats would never give up the lead after this. The Wolves would have the ball for just 47 seconds. Swartz completed another long pass to Stover which went for 35 yards. But the ball was loss on a fumble and the Wildcats had the ball back. The Wildcats scored 28 seconds later on the first play of the second quarter.

Mcanulty hit Michael Krejocic down the right sideline for a 73 yard scoring play. The two pointer was good again and the Wildcats were up 16. The Wolves next drive was their longest of the first half at just over three and a half minutes. But Swartz threw incomplete on fourth and goal from the thirteen. The Wildcats would go 87 yards in over just four minutes. Hill scored his second touchdown and it was 30-6 Homer.  The Wolves would now answer back with a scoring drive of their own.  The Wolves went 56 yards in just over a minute and a half. Swartz hit Stover on a screen pass down the middle on fourth and ten. It was a big play and gave West Shamokin some momentum. Which they would be able to carry over into the second half. The Wildcats once again moved right down the field but ran out of time. Mcanulty was picked off in the left corner of the end zone as the half ended.

The Wolves took less than a minute and a half to score again as the third quarter started. Swartz to Stover covered 51 yards. The Wildcats were then unable to overcome an unsportsmanlike penalty on their first drive of the half and punted. The Wolves would go 90 yards in just over two minutes. Swartz completed a big 30 yard pass on third and 8 from the Wolves eight. They converted another third down on a horse collar penalty against the Wildcats. Swartz then hit Christian Sharp deep down the right sideline as he got behind the Wildcat secondary. West Shamokin missed the two pointer again but were within four points. Landon Hill woke the Wildcats back up with a big kick return to the Wolves 45. Just under two minutes later Collin Troup muscled it in from one yard out. The Wildcats were back up by 10. The Wolves on their next drive, overcame a fourth down and drove inside the Wildcat red zone before being stopped. Noah Henry came free and sacked BomSwartz causing a fumble that was recovered by Landon Hill. The Wolves would never threaten again.

Homer-Center punted the ball away to end the third quarter. Twenty five seconds later Swartz would be intercepted. The Wildcats would go 64 yards in six minutes and kick the extra point to ice the game. Mcanulty scored his second touchdown of the game. Swartz was picked again on the Wolves next possession in the end zone. The Wildcats then ran out the final 4 plus minutes.

The defenses struggled for both teams. But the Wildcats were able to create turnovers and they had the ball over 34 minutes. Their offensive line totally worn down the Wolves. If you like offenses this was the place to be. Final Wildcats 43 Wolves 26.
