2022Penn-TraffordWR

I am Cade Yacamelli, a wide receiver, running back, and defensive back for Penn Trafford High School. I have always been extremely competitive. It doesn’t matter if I am playing checkers with my little brother or shooting hoops with my friends, I want to come out on top.

Who is your favorite sports star and why?

My favorite player is Saquan Barkley. When Saquan was in high school, he was a late bloomer. He had to struggle, work hard, and believe in himself when others did not. He is now the best player in football. I am also a late bloomer. This was very hard for me to deal with since adolescent development was out of my control. Now that I am older, I would not have it any other way.
This experience made me mentally stronger and showed me how to deal with adversity. It has helped mold me into a better person and football player.

Why do you play football?

I play football because it is my passion. It is the game that I love. I love the competition, and I love to compete.

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like?

My mentor is my grandfather, Mel Yacamelli. My grandfather has given me advice throughout my life on what makes a great person and also a great football player. I learn a lot from listening to all of his stories from high school through college. He was a highly recruited athlete who ended up playing at the University of Maryland and in the Big 33 Game. His life lessons, along with his personal battle through cancer, inspire me daily. I strive to make him proud every day.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

I enjoying hanging out with my teammates and hunting and fishing with my father and younger brother.
