2020 RECAP

The Mighty Mikes looked  like the class of the conference for more than half the season after their move down from 2A. A Saturday showdown with California ended their title hopes and a quirky loss to Avella the week after ended their playoff ones. Trenton Carter and Bailey Jones became the best QB-RB tandem in the TCS while putting up gaudy numbers against the weaker members of the conference.

OFFENSE

TRENTON CARTER is back as possibly the best QB in the conference. He’ll have TYLER RICHMOND, BRYAN WHITE, and MIKE STEWART back as weapons to help avenge the Mikes conference title loss. Bailey Jones and Hunter Voithofer are out, but PAYTON SCHOOLEY looks primed and ready to be the main runner out of the backfield.

DEFENSE

The Mikes lose their leading tackler and unit leader in Hunter Voithofer, and will have to depend on a youth movement at LB to lead the defense. The secondary is loaded. TRENTON CARTER, JESSE JONES, and BRYAN WHITE a, ll return as starters. On the line, AUSTIN WALKER and ELIJAH SMITH will have to step into larger roles after the loss of Trey Luoma and Nate Swaney.

OVERVIEW

Ron Gallagher’s first year as head man for the Mikes proved successful, putting together the teams first winning season in 3 years. The way the season ended however, leaves the Mikes bitter and hungry to make a deep playoff run. The pieces are all there. A dynamic QB talent, several athletic weapons that will be a pain for any defense, and young talent across both lines that look to be future stars in the conference. The Mikes may not have the star power to win the conference outright, but look for this team to look much more dangerous at the end of their sophomore season in the conference compared to their freshman season.
