2020 RECAP

Turnovers in big games led to missed opportunities for Wash High in 2020. Several interceptions in the season opener led to a 7-6 loss to bitter rivals McGuffey. Early drive fumbles set the tone for blowouts against Trinity and Apollo-Ridge. Despite the problems hanging onto the ball, Wash High had an underrated youth movement in 2020 that looks to be taking the team into the next chapter.

OFFENSE

Trinity transfer DAVOUN FUSE was the surprise QB candidate and showed promise in both the running and passing game. He’ll return along with TAYSHAWN LEVY, now the primary returning back from a committee in 2020. CAMERON CARTER-GREEN is the standout returner on the offensive line, however, WYATT YOUNG and TREVOR KERN have the size to be worth looking out for.

DEFENSE 

The Prexies return the two best CBs in the conference in TAYSHAWN LEVY and BRANDON PATTERSON. They will be leaned on not only in pass protection as the Prexies lose two all-star linebackers. GREEN returning on the offensive line should be an added benefit for a line yearning for experience.

OVERVIEW

Wash High was only a few plays away from a much different season in 2020, and with that added experience should come promise for a Prexies that offloaded some dead weight in the offseason. FUSE and LEVY have shown so much promise in their early years, and both players may be the best overall athletes in the conference. That could make the difference in games against Clairton and McGuffey. Wash High welcomes the Bears to Washington for the first time in history and it should have the eyes of the WPIAL community on it all weekend. The rest of the out of conference should be blowouts in the Prexies favor. For Wash High, it might be a one-game season on October 29th.
