Let’s get to know Ryan
Can you share with the readers how you balance playing four sports and keeping your grades up?
Grades are always my main priority to me so they always come first in whatever I do, but I think balancing it out has never really been a problem for me because it’s all just really comes down to working hard and staying on top of things which I think definitely translates to my athletics.
Baseball, basketball, football, and track—how long have you played each sport?
I’ve played baseball ever since I was 5, basketball in 4th grade, football in 8th, and just recently started track this past year.
Of the four sports you are involved in, which one do you feel you are the best at?
I would say baseball
How difficult is it to play wide receiver in the Wing-T-based offense?
I wouldn’t say it’s difficult at all, as frustrating as it can be at times not getting the ball as often as you want it really just makes you more determined to make that play when the time does come.
What has been the highlight of your athletic career?
Definitely, the friendships and relationships I’ve built with my teammates through the years.
What will you most remember from the class of 2023?
The sense of determination and purpose they had with every practice, lift, and rep they went into. Definitely has played a huge impact on how play and practice today.
After the football season is over, what would it mean to you to land an invite to the Big 33 game or the East vs. West game?
It’d be a huge honor to receive an invitation like that
If you could pick one new team for McGuffey to play against, who would it be and why?
It would have to be Trinity for me, as little kids we would play them all the time and the distance between our schools would definitely make it fun. Even though they’re 4a I think we could give them a really good game.
If you could pick a pro or college stadium to play a game in, where would it be?
Beaver Stadium, the energy there is unlike any other.
Where should the state finals be held?
Beaver Stadium
What are your personal goals for the season as well as the goals you have set for the team?
Personally, I hope to be 1st team all-conference, but as a team I think we have a huge ceiling and the wpial championship is a big goal for us.
Which game are you looking forward to most this season?
Keystone Oaks, although it’s tough to not say W because of the rivalry I just think Keystone is going to give us our best in conference competition this year.
What is a talent or skill you have that would shock others?
Probably my athletic ability
What is your favorite genre of music?
Cloud rap
What was the last book you read?
The Creative Act- A Way of Being: by Rick Rubin
