15 years. In one year, the Aliquippa consecutive championship streak will be able to get their driver’s license. The Quips kept the streak alive with a 42-7 drubbing of five seed McKeesport.
In 2021, it took two overtimes for a winner to be decided between McKeesport and Aliquippa. 2022 went quite differently for a Quips team that brought back nearly everyone from a PIAA state champion.
The Tigers defense looked on top of things early, forcing Aliquippa’s first offensive drive. On defense, the Quips took advantage. Jason McBride smacked down a Jahmil Perryman and took it in for a quick 6-0 lead.

The Tigers would get the ball for their second drive, and they gave it right back to the Quips with a Perryman fumble. On the play after, Tiqwai Hayes made port pay, going 39 yards to go up 12-0.
In the second quarter, Aliquippa took advantage of another Tigers mistake when an errant snap found its way to the back of the endzone. 14-0 and Quips ball.
On the following drive, the Quips flexed their offensive prowess, Quentin Goode found a slanting DJ Walker to put Aliquippa up 21-0 halfway through the second.

In total, the Aliquippa defense would force four first half turnovers. Two through the air and two on the ground. Brandon Banks added a snag to send the Quips to the locker room up by three scores.
The third quarter belonged to Tiqwai Hayes. Two TDs on two consecutive possessions. One from 10 out, one from 64. Mercy Rule Aliquippa.
Aliquippa again added to their defensive touchdown total in the fourth. With the ball on the 6, the Tigers fumbled. 305 pound Naquon Crowder would scoop and run it back 88 yards.
At the final siren, the score ended 42-7. Bobbie Boyd Jr, broke the shutout with a 39 yard catch and run in the dying moments.
What’s Next: the Quips look ahead to a trip to Acrisure Stadium and a monumental rematch with Central Valley in the title game.
