Their momentum carried into the second quarter, where they added three more touchdowns, while OLSH managed to score just once, bringing the halftime score to 42-7. The second half was uneventful, with neither team putting points on the board, sealing the Ironmen’s 42-7 win over the Chargers.

The Ironmen came out strong in the first quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points and taking control of the game from the opening snap. Donald Barksdale set the tone with a powerful run, putting Steel Valley up 7-0 with 7:29 left in the quarter. After the defense stifled the Chargers’ offense, Da’Ron Barksdale found the end zone with another rushing touchdown, extending the lead to 14-0 at 3:05. On the ensuing kickoff, the Ironmen recovered an onside kick, quickly regaining possession. Wasting no time, they marched down the field, capping the drive with another score from Donald Barksdale, pushing the lead to 21-0 with just over a minute left. That final touchdown concluded a dominant first quarter for Steel Valley, who led 21-0.

The second quarter began with the Chargers getting on the board, as Ethan Davis scored on a rushing touchdown to narrow Steel Valley’s lead to 21-7. However, the Ironmen quickly responded with a rushing touchdown from Donald Barksdale, restoring their three-touchdown advantage at 28-7. Steel Valley kept the pressure on, with Da’Ron Barksdale finding the end zone again, extending the lead to 35-7. The final score of the half, and ultimately the game, came courtesy of Donald Barksdale, who completed another touchdown run to make it 42-7 at halftime. Neither team scored in the second half, sealing Steel Valley’s commanding victory.

The story of the game for the Ironmen was the dynamic performance of the Barksdale brothers, who dominated the field and accounted for all 42 points. Their relentless play led Steel Valley to a commanding victory. With this win, the Ironmen improved their record to 5-3 on the season. Next week, they’ll hit the road to face Ligonier Valley, looking to build on their momentum.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart falls further below .500 with the loss, dropping to 3-5 on the season. Looking to bounce back, they will face Shady Side Academy next week at Moon High School.
