In what was supposed to be a good game Beaver rolled over unbeaten Deer Lakes in a 42-0 rout. “It is getting to that time of year, we’ve gone through some adversity, we have guys down, but it doesn’t mean we stop doing what we need to do, those kids have to understand that success is a moment in time, successful people don’t stop there they strive to do better, everybody is average we don’t want to be average, we want to be great, being great is a mind set, you gotta keep these guys in that mind set, like hey we played good, championship guys say hey we can do better and we wanna keep driving that and keep that excitement going with our kids” said Coach Rowse.

Beaver got the ball to start the game. They started close to midfield and after one run they were in Deer Lakes territory and eventually took the lead on a 12 yard touchdown run by Drey Hall. That made the score 7-o Beaver with 9:28 in the first quarter.

Deer Lakes started their first drive at their own 31 yard line. It was a good looking drive that was inside the Beaver 40 yard line but after that the drive stalled and they punted it away.

Beaver started with the ball on their own 16 yard line. On the fourth play of the drive Qualan Cain was off to the races on a 65 yard touchdown run which made the score 14-o Beaver 4:13 in the first quarter.

Cain played a major role in the win for Beaver he had 3 touchdowns and ran for 152 yards on 8 carries. “Quay is that guy, we have Quay and Drey Hall, who are completely selfless, as far as it comes to running the football, we have just seen him take the next step this year, we watched him prepare in the offseason, he’s bigger, he’s faster, he’s stronger this year, and man when he runs, he runs with purpose, he hits that hole, what I love about him even when he’s getting tackled, he’s still going forward, we rely on him a ton” said Coach Rowse.

The second drive for Deer Lakes was also looking promising and was out past midfield and even inside the Beaver 30 yard line. After that on  fourth down they decided to go for it and failed to convert turning the over on downs.

Beaver started their third drive on their own 27 yard line and it was a long drive that featured a lot of runs out of the wildcat offense. Eventually Beaver scored on a 9 yard run by Amari Jackson. That made the score 21-o Beaver with 6:59 in the second quarter.

Jackson also played a key role in the win he had 77 yards rushing on 10 carries and he also had 4 catches for 85 yards. “Amari is just that guy he’s another guy that’s developed himself and he’s kind of come on the last year and a half and become that guy, but what’s even more impressive, is just his work ethic, his work ethic in the classroom, his work ethic when nobody is watching those are the little things that pay off when you come out here and the lights turn on” said Coach Rowse.

Deer Lakes got the ball back but went three and out. Before the half ended Beaver added one more score. Qualan Cain scored his second touchdown of the game this one a 33 yard run. That made the score 28-o Beaver with 2:55 left in the first half

The run game was the key in the win for Beaver. “We were lucky last year, everybody was a first year starter last year, you can tell when you get 5 offensive linemen, that now have played 15, 16, 17 games together just what that looks like, it makes the run game go, because those guys have been playing next to each other for so long, they’re used to playing the schemes and the concepts we run, they’re just doing a great job up front, I couldn’t be happier, I’m proud of my guys up front” said Coach Rowse.

Beaver nearly scored before the half ended but that drive ended up stalling and the score at halftime was 28-o Beaver.

The second half was more of the same. Eventually Beaver made it a mercy rule game on a 1 yard run by Travis Clear. That made the score 35-o Beaver with 4:30 in the third quarter.

Beaver added one last score before the game ended which was Qualan Cain’s third touchdown of the game which was a 28 yard run with 6:28 left in the game.

Next week Beaver travels to North Catholic and Deer Lakes travels to Imani.
