
California Fires on all Cylinders in 50-0 Win at Carmichaels

Powerful and Efficient in all Phases as Trojans Roll
Carmichaels, PA – On a perfect fall night under the lights for high school football, the California Trojans marched into Carmichales, PA to square off against the Mighty Mikes of Carmichaels Area High School. The Trojans have been in complete control of this series as of late, California has outscored the Mikes by an average score of 42.3 to 9 over the last 3 meetings. This meeting wouldn’t be any different as the Trojans left Carmichaels with a 50-0 dominating victory.
After a slow opening frame, the Trojans quickly turned this game into a second quarter showcase. On the ground and through the air, pouring in 32 points (three touchdowns on the ground and two through the air, and leaving the crowd in awe of the dominant performance. The second quarter was all that was needed to vanquish any upset thoughts out of the mind of the Mikes.
Senior running back, Malachi Peak was efficient and unstoppable behind the powerful Trojan line, only needing 10 carries to reach 130 yards. Peak also found the end zone three times on runs of 10, 24, and 33 yards. The Trojans were also successful through the air. Senior quarterback Logan Hartley was also extremely efficient, completing 4 of 6 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, another big performance was from sophomore wide receiver Alan Dennis. Dennis was the third piece of the Trojan’s balanced air and ground attack hauling in two receptions for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those touchdown receptions were also in the second quarter and were from 62 and 38 yards, respectively.

The Mikes were never really able to get much going offensively. They had an impressive drive to the Trojan 10, but a fourth down pass intended for Canon Bupka in the back corner of the endzone was intercepted by Trojan defensive back Brandon Meier. Meier also contributed offensively in the second half, finding pay dirt two times on runs of 8 and 12 for the final points of the game.
With the victory, the Trojans remain undefeated and atop of the Tri-County South conference with the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets at 4-0. The Trojans will take their (4-0, 6-1) record back home and welcome the West Greene Pioneers (1-6, 1-3), next week. Carmichaels (1-5, 0-4) will look to regroup and end their 5 game losing streak as they take the trip to Avella (6-1, 3-1).
