Beth Center hosted Carmichaels for a Homecoming matchup on Friday night. The large Bulldogs crowd left disappointed after the Mighty Mikes prevailed with a convincing 35-8 victory. Carmichaels dominated in all 3 phases of the game, never letting the score get close.

After both teams failed to sustain drives at the beginning of the game, Carmichaels opened the scoring action late in the 1st quarter with a 10 yard rushing TD. Early in the 2nd Beth Center failed to take advantage of a fumble returned deep into Mikes territory, ultimately turning the ball over on downs. This was the closest they ever got in the contest.

Once getting the ball back the Mikes drove down the field and capped their drive with a 2 yd. rushing TD by Adamson. Next, on just the 2nd play of the Bulldog’s ensuing drive, Billy White snagged an interception and took it to the house, putting Carmichaels up 21-0.

Beth Center punted on their next drive– and Billy White once again scored, this time off a 60+ yard return. The half ended with the Mighty Mikes leading 27-0.

After the 3rd quarter ended with no major action, Beth Center again made no use of a recovered fumble. This time they were forced to punt from their own 25 yard line, but a botched snap led to a fumble recovered by the Mikes. Billy White took the field and scored Carmichael’s last TD to make the score 35-0 and begin the running clock.

On the next drive the Bulldogs were able to successfully move down the field and ultimately score with a short TD rush by Sussan. They avoided getting shutout at home, but were unable to score again. The rest of the 4th passed quickly and the score stayed 35-8 to the end.

RB Billy White was the star of the show, although his multiple fumbles could have been costly if Beth Center was able to take advantage of them. The Bulldog’s line looked small against the Mikes’. They also didn’t have any standout athlete to compete against White.

Next week Carmichaels (now 4-2) will host Monessen and Beth Center (now 1-5) travels to Bentworth .
