Finally, finally no mistakes we played you know with our potential. We have a lot of young kids so hopefully this makes them grow up some and and we continue to get better”. That was Kiski head coach Sam Albert’s feeling after his Cavaliers put together a nice 28-7 win over Indiana last night. “They did a they fantastic job tonight, they really did and like I said if you watch our games up to this point like we’re right there and then we’re so inconsistent because they’re young but I’m proud of them” Albert said of his line’s play on both sides of the ball.

The Cavalier line set the tone early forcing an Indiana punt on the games opening drive, then Kiski went on a 13 play, clock eating drive that ended with a 4 yard touchdown run by Landon Kucic. The kick was good making it a 7-0 lead for Kiski with just three minutes left in the first quarter.

Defensively, the Cavalier line put pressure on Indiana quarterback Trevor Smith all night. After forcing another punt, Kiski put together another nice drive that reached the Kiski 20, but it ended with an interception in the end zone by talented sophomore Levi Porter. Once again the Cavalier defense was stout. After another Indiana punt the Cavaliers struck fast. Carson Heinle found Isaiah Gonzalez streaking down the sideline and hit him in stride for a 42 yard td pass. The kick was again good giving Kiski a 14-0 lead with 52 seconds left in the first half.

Indiana put together a nice quick drive using short passes from Smith to Porter, but they ran out of time with the ball on the Kiski 23. “Nah. We couldn’t get the ground game rolling. It’s tough to see just how big and strong a team is on film and they’re a good, strong team” said Indiana head coach Brad Wright. The Cavaliers opened the second half with a fast moving 54 yard drive capped by another 4 yard td run from Kucic to pull away with a 21-0 lead. Kucic, who rushed for over 100 yards, was solid all night and ran for a 15 yard td late in the third to put the game away. “I’m not sure how many yards he had. Landon runs hard. We finally got him open tonight and he ran hard. Hey listen, number 6 (Porter) he scares me and number 11 (Smith) is a tremendous player” said Albert of Indiana’s star players.

Indiana got on the board late with a one yard run by Smith to complete the scoring. Both teams now have a 2-4 record. Kiski will host a tough Mars team and Indiana with face Armstrong next week.
