North Catholic won the coin toss to start the game and deferred to the second half. That turned out to be costly when Myles Walker returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown making it 6-0 Central Valley. “When you can get something like that to set the tone on someone’s home field, our guys were real prepared for this game” said Coach Lyons.

Later in the quarter North Catholic started a drive with great field position at the Central Valley 46 yard line. After a penalty they were at the 9 yard line. After that Central Valley’s defense stood tall and the drive stalled and they turned the ball over on downs after an incomplete pass. “They got a mentality, they may break a little bit but they always want to line up for the next play” said Coach Lyons.

That turnover on downs would be costly. After a couple plays Ameer Dudley pitched it to Myles Walker for a 64 yard touchdown run, which made it 14-0 with 4:14 in the first quarter.

North Catholic desperately needed to get something going on offense and they did just that on one drive. On one play Zach Rocco completed it to Anthony Serventi and they were at the Central Valley 25. That same duo would connect again for a 16 yard touchdown which made it 14-7 with 11:21 in the second quarter.

Later in the quarter Central Valley extended their lead back to 14. The drive was set up by another big return by Myles Walker and they started at the North Catholic 15. Soon after that he caught the 20 yard touchdown pass from Ameer Dudley and it was 21-7 midway through the second quarter. That would be the score at the half.

North Catholic and Central Valley did nothing on their first drives of the second half. On the second North Catholic drive they would cut into Central Valley’s lead. The drive started at the 50 and eventually Zack Rocco connected with Jaren Thimons for an 18 yard touchdown. Rocco had a big night he was 30 of 49 for 310 yards.

North Catholic seemed to have momentum and Central Valley had third and long. On that third down play though, Ameer Dudley connected a big pass to Justin Thompson down to the North Catholic 40. “Our guys are able to make plays” said Coach Lyons. Later Dudley connected with Myles Walker down to the 1. After that Dudley scored on a 1 yard run to make it 28-14 with 2:51 remaining in the third quarter. “We do a real good job responding” said Coach Lyons.

In the fourth quarter North Catholic had success on offense but unfortunately one drive ended on a fumble when they where inside the Central Valley 30. And a second drive ended on an interception.

After that interception, Central Valley added one more score on a 5 yard run by Jalen Guy. That made the final 35-14.

Ameer Dudley had a big role in the Central Valley win, he had 106 yards rushing and had almost 90 yards passing. Myles Walker had 3 total touchdowns and also an interception on defense.

Next week Central Valley hosts Keystone Oaks and North Catholic hosts Derry.
