If you said Eagles would win this one you had a great shot of being right.

Friday night saw the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles travel to South Park to face the Eagles. Kind of confusing, I know.

Keystone Oaks Senior Running Back Kevin Drew opened the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run with 8:43 left in the first quarter to make it 7-0 Golden Eagles.

Keystone Oaks started that drive following a South Park fumble in Eagles territory. That would end up being the game winning score by night’s end.

Golden Eagles Sophomore Quarterback Nick Buckley showed the passing strength of Keystone Oaks with a 37-yard touchdown pass to Junior Wide Receiver Quinn Kenny getting behind the South Park secondary.

The extra point made it 14-0 Golden Eagles with 3:55 left in the first quarter.

No change in scoring would take place until midway into the second quarter when Buckley went deep again dropping a dime in the hands of Junior Wide Receiver Owen Minford for a 46-yard touchdown.

At the half it was Keystone Oaks 21, South Park 0. The Golden Eagles were living up to their name and controlling all aspects of the game.

Not to be outdone by his quarterback, Kevin Drew broke free up the middle for a 23-yard touchdown run to make it 28-0 Keystone Oaks with 8:24 left in the third quarter.

Late in the third quarter South Park Quarterback Harper Conroy was picked off by Dan Lekovitch of Keystone Oaks at the South Park 28-yard line, killing any Eagles momentum.

Heading into the fourth it was Golden Eagles 28, Eagles 0.

Kevin Drew capped off the hat trick in the fourth quarter with his third rushing touchdown of the night from 16 yards out. With just over 10 minutes left Keystone Oaks was on cruise control up 35-0.

South Park would get a few more chances, but at the final whistle it was the Golden Eagles on top 35-0.

Keystone Oaks improves to 2-0 and has yet to be scored on this season after last week’s 21-0 win over Brentwood.

In addition to his three rushing touchdowns, Keystone Oaks Senior Kevin Drew added two sacks on the defensive end in the Golden Eagles dominant night.

He explained the mindset his team entered the matchup with.

“We came in hard, physical, we wanted to start off and get the motor running,” Drew said. “Keep attacking, we played disciplined, and we did our jobs at every position.”

Drew ended the night with 151 yards and outlined what helped him pick up large chunks of yards after contact.

“I keep my feet moving and don’t let myself think one on one tackles are going to break me down,” Drew said.

Keystone Oaks will host Chartiers Valley (1-1, 0-0) next Friday, while South Park goes on the road to face Seton LaSalle (0-2, 0-0) next Saturday with each of them looking for their first win of 2021.
