Sophomore Quarterback Haden Sierocky proved to be a duel-threat in Ligonier Valley’s win. Sierocky found the endzone 5 times, he threw for 2 scores and ran for 3 more. His big night propelled the Rams to a 42-6 win at Waynesburg Central.

Ligonier Valley traveled south to take on the Waynesburg Central in a non-conference game. Both teams are 2A schools, Waynesburg plays in the Century Conference and Ligonier is in the Allegheny Conference.

The Rams would elect to receive the opening kickoff and would get on the board early. Haden Sierocky kept the ball on an option play to score from 12 yards out. After forcing Waynesburg to punt, Sierocky made his lone mistake of the game when Darnell Johnson intercepted his pass to give the ball back to Waynesburg. This would be the lone turnover of the ball game, but Waynesburg would fail to take advantage of it.

Ligonier would finish a long drive at the end of the quarter scoring on a jump pass from Sierocky to Miles Higgins from 2 yards out. Ligonier led 14-0 after the first quarter. On their next drive Sierocky would use his legs again extending the lead to 20-0. After forcing a quick three and out, Ligonier would run the hurry up offence to perfection scoring on a TD pass from Sierocky to Matthew Marinchak as time expired in the first half.

Nick Beitel was rewarded for his game on the ground with a score from 1 yard out early in the 3rd quarter which put the mercy rule into effect. The Rams would hold that lead until Darnell Johnson got the Raiders in the score column making it 35-6 Ligonier. A late Sierocky touchdown would be his third rushing and fifth total and brought us to the final score of 42-6.

Ligonier Valley improves to 3-3 and will host Shady Side Academy next Friday. Waynesburg Central falls to 0-6 and will travel to Chartiers-Houston
