- Borgo was a large dog(Talbots) with three touchdowns and a pile of yards!
- Levi Porter is special!
- There were so many penalties that they had to call in an accounting team!
- Indiana’s defense held down Hampton for awhile but got no help from the offense or special teams!
WPIAL Game of the Week
Hampton Talbots (2-5) at Indiana Indians (2-5)
Last Meeting : 10/14/22 Indians 7 Talbots 42
On paper they were both 2 & 5. However the Talbots two wins were against Kiski & Armstrong, two teams that handled the Indians easily. The loss guaranteed Indiana another losing season. They haven’t had a winning record since 2014. The undermanned Indians held tough for a half before falling 35-7 to the visiting Talbots. The entire first half was played on the Indians side of the 50 except one brief moment when Indiana recovered a Hampton fumble. The Indiana defense kept coming up big and trailed only 7-0 until the Talbots scored in the final seconds of the first half. Senior running back Brock Borgo scored on the opening drive from twenty five yards out and in the last minute of the second quarter from the two. He was the entire Hampton offense in the first half gaining 110 yards on eighteen carries. The Talbots kept their playoff hopes alive as they moved to 3-1 in the conference. The Indians only score came late in the third quarter with the score 28-0 as Trevor Smith hit Levi Porter for a touchdown. What small hope the Indians had disappeared when Willy Haselrig returned the second half kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. Borgo scored his third touchdown midway thru the third quarter to make it 28-0. The Indians score cut the lead to 28-7. But the Indian special teams which had a bad night gave up another kick return for a touchdown. This time Joshua Carr went 80 yards. The fourth quarter saw a lot of backups playing. The game was penalty plagued. Indiana will finish up the season with two road games against North Catholic & Plum. Hampton will be home against Mars and than play Highlands on the road. It was senior night at Indiana and their senior squad looked like a causality ward.
