Syracuse recruited senior Josh Hough as a running back, and last night showed why they wanted him so much. Hough had a career night carrying the rock, rushing 21 time for 368 yards and three scores to lead the Tigers to a 50-27 win over Apollo-Ridge. “I’m very proud of the way the offensive line played. The holes were open and the backs found them” said Beaver Falls head coach Nick Nardone.

The game started out like a heavyweight fight with both teams feeling each other out, then with 26 seconds left in the first quarter the offenses exploded for 77 points.  Quadir Thomas hauled in a 42 yard td pass for the Tigers.

On their next drive, Hough stepped up. His first big run of the night was a 44 yard burst that set up a three yard td run by Shileak Livingston to put the Tigers up 14-0.  The Vikings struck back quickly. Klay Fitzroy hauled in a 44 yard pass and Logan Harmon followed with a 5 yard scoring run.

Trey Singleton pulled in a 79 yard td pass to give the Tigers a 22-7 edge at the break. Livingston scored on a 36 yard run to get the scoring going in the third quarter. Then Jake Fello scored on a 27 yard run as the teams exchanged scoring possessions virtually the entire second half.  Hough added td runs of 78, 12 and an 86 yard run to seal the game. Nick Curci pulled in a 14 yard pass from Fello and Harmon scored from 2 yards out for the Vikings.

“It’s been a great ride. I don’t think we’ll have another team like this for a while. Tomorrow we’ll move on” said AR head coach head coach John Skiba.  Beaver Falls moves on to face Sto-Rox for the WPIAL 2A title.
