West Mifflin emerged victorious in the battle at the line of scrimmage tonight against Mount Pleasant. The West Mifflin Titans’ offensive line dominated throughout the game to support the freshman sensation, Armand Hill. The scoring got off to a slow start in the first quarter until Armand Hill displayed a powerful run giving the Titans a 6-0 lead. The Mount Pleasant Vikings got the ball back but turned it over quickly with an interception. Following the interception, Titan’s senior DelRicco White punched in an impressive run, quickly pushing the score to 13-0. Mount Pleasant responded with a passing touchdown caught by Lane Golkosky making it 13-7. The Titans added another rushing touchdown in the first half, with Armand Hill contributing his second of the game, bringing the score to 20-6 late in the second quarter. Promptly, the Vikings retaliated with an impressive pass from Cole Chatfield making it 20-13 at the end of the half. After the halftime break, the Titans firmly took control of the game. They scored three consecutive touchdowns while keeping the Vikings from scoring in the second half, securing a 40-14 victory.

To start the first quarter, the Vikings had possession of the ball. They appeared to be in the midst of a promising scoring drive when it was halted by a fumble, which was caused by the Titans. Seizing the opportunity created by the fumble, the Titans capitalized and scored a touchdown through a powerful run by freshman Armand Hill. However, the Titans missed the extra point, leaving the score at 6-0, with 3:35 remaining in the first quarter. The Vikings faced another setback when they surrendered the ball due to an interception. Subsequently, the Titans required only two plays for senior DelRicco White to reach the endzone with a long touchdown run, extending their lead to 13-0 with 1:40 remaining in the first quarter. No further scoring occurred in the first quarter, and the Vikings retained possession as the game transitioned into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, both teams engaged in a back-and-forth exchange of points. At the 6:32 mark, the Vikings managed to secure a touchdown through a pass from quarterback Cole Chatfield to Lane Golkosky, bringing the score to 13-7, still in favor of the Titans. The Titans swiftly responded with a touchdown of their own when Armand Hill scored his second of the night, pushing the score to 20-7 with 5:02 remaining in the second quarter. The third consecutive scoring drive came from the Vikings, this time with just one minute left in the second quarter, as Cole Chatfield once again connected to Lane Golkosky with an impressive pass. This marked the final score of the first half, making it 20-14 in favor of the Titans.

Starting from the third quarter onwards, it was all about Titan football. The Titans took possession of the ball and efficiently advanced down the field, with Armand Hill scoring his third touchdown of the night, resulting in a 27-14 lead with 7:10 remaining in the third quarter. The Vikings experienced another turnover when quarterback Cole Chatfield threw an interception, which was promptly returned for a pick-six by Joseph “David” Fleming, extending the Titans’ lead to 34-14. The Vikings struggled to make any progress on their subsequent drive and relinquished possession to the red-hot Titan’s offense. The game’s final score came courtesy of none other than Armand Hill, securing his fourth touchdown of the day and making it 40-14 with just 32 seconds left in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter unfolded with a sense of calm. The Vikings took possession of the ball at the beginning of the quarter and embarked on an 8-minute drive, predominantly using the run game. Their progress was halted when they faced a challenging 4th and 4 situation, and the Titan defense effectively stopped them. The Titan offense assumed control of the game and executed a single drive methodically draining the clock. Eventually, the game concluded with a final score of 40-14 Titans.

West Mifflin delivered a remarkable, ground-and-pound performance boosted by Armand Hill’s outstanding display in which he managed to put up 214 yards on 19 carries and scored an impressive four touchdowns. With this victory under their belt, West Mifflin hopes to maintain this level of play in their upcoming game against an Elizabeth Forward football team that will be well-rested and ready to play. Mount Pleasant’s season was abruptly halted by this defeat, concluding the year with a 6-5 overall record and 2-3 in conference play.
