Industry: Neshannock scored 31-straight points and turned a close game into a 48-20 victory over Western Beaver Saturday afternoon.
The Lancers overcame an early deficit to improve to 4-0 season in an early-season battle against unbeaten Midwestern Conference teams.
“I’m sure many people thought that Western Beaver would overmatch us,” said Neshannock head coach Fred Mozzocio. “They have a great team and great athletes, but people have been saying that week in and week out about us. We focus on caring for ourselves and blocking out all the outside stuff. We want to ensure we execute on both sides of the ball.”
Things started strong for the Golden Beavers as they took the opening kickoff and went 65 yards in ten plays, capped off by quarterback Xander LeFebvre’s 1-yard run.

Neshannock answered back with Carter DeVivo’s 22-yard field goal.
The Golden Beavers held a 6-3 lead after a quarter, but things quickly unraveled.
Neshannock took their first lead of the game on Matt Ioanilli’s 1-yard run with 4:13 to play in the first half.
The game’s biggest play occurred with Neshannock punting with just under two minutes to play in the first half.
Western Beaver mishandled the ball with the Lancers recovering at the 4-yard line. Ioanilli scored from four yards out on the next play.
Neshannock put the game away in the third quarter with two quick touchdowns.
Quarterback Jonny Huff scored on a 4-yard run. The Golden Beavers then fumbled the ensuing kickoff, with Neshannock recovering.
Two plays later, Huff ran an option keeper 17 yards for a touchdown.
“We felt good about ourselves after that play to close out the first half,” said Mozzocio. “The momentum was on our side, and we were able to get a couple of quick scores and take control of the game from that point.”
Western Beaver got one back when Dorian McGhee caught a 57-yard touchdown from LeFebvre. That was the first completion of the game for the Golden Beavers.
Xander LeFebvre completed 6-of-19 passes for 110 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also rushed for 42 yards on 14 carries with a pair of touchdowns.
Tyson Florence led Western Beaver with 92 yards on 15 carries.
Carter DeVivo connected on his second field goal of the game from 23 yards out, followed by Ioanilli’s third touchdown run from a yard out after a blocked punt.
Jonny Huff also scored his third touchdown early in the fourth quarter from six yards pushing the Lancers’ lead to 48-14 with 9:04 to play.

“On defense, we went back to fundamentals by making sure we were gap sound,” Mozzocio said. “We wanted to make sure our guys were focusing on doing their job and trying to do too much.”
Huff rushed for a game-high 120 yards on 19 carries while Ioanilli totaled 75 yards on 14 attempts. Huff also completed 7-of-14 passes for 160 yards.
“We wanted to lay our bodies on them because we felt they were getting tired,” said Mozzocio. “The main thing we wanted was to stay patient and continue getting five or six yards a play. We did a good job with that today.”
The Golden Beavers closed the scoring with LeFebvre’s 2-yard run. Western Beaver will look to bounce back next Saturday when they host Ellwood City.
Neshannock will play host to Beaver Falls next Friday night.
“We have a tough game next week at our place against a great football team,” Mozzocio concluded. “They have great skill, and it will be a big challenge for us. We have a problem if our guys can’t get up for that one.”
