Eddie Lewis had put the Prexies back within reach. In the second half of overtime, on the Prexies second play. Eddie Lewis had brought Wash High within a point. An extra point would have sent the game to Double Overtime. Mike Bosnic went for the jugular.

Davoun Fuse took the snap from the three, scrambled to the left, dove between the blockers, and was held up by Dashawn Harmon and Keandre Williams. Stopped at the one yardline, the 4 seeded Prexies were upended by the New Brighton Lions.

For the Prexies, the game was one of missed opportunities. Davoun Fuse found the endzone three times in the first half, however only one counted as the first two were called back on holding and hurdling.

The Lions were quick to capitalize on opportunities as well. On the second play of the game a screen to Eric Montanez would go to the house for 81 yards.

With the score 7-7 late in the second quarter, Wash High would turn the ball over on downs twice, and literally turn the ball over once, all in the red zone, and go to the half tied.

After a back and forth 3rd quarter of long drives and no points, Ed Lewis broke the stalemate with a minute left in the 3rd to put the Prexies up by 7.

The Prexies would once again drive down the field in the 4th, and with the chance to ice the game, a 4th down pass would be intercepted. The Lions would capitalize on the opportunity and tie up the game two minutes later.

With the score tied, and both teams trading turnovers, Washington would have a chance to win in the final thirty seconds, however the Lions would hold strong once more on their side of the field, sending the game into overtime. Three plays later, it would be the lions walking off the field victorious.

What’s Next? New Brighton will head into a much anticipated Beaver County rematch against the Beaver Falls Tigers, who are coming off of a dominant blowout over Western Beaver.
