North Allegheny cruises to easy win over Pine Richland

From start to finish it was total domination in North Allegheny’s 45-10 win over Pine Richland. “It was an impressive night we did a lot of different things on the ground and through the air, things really came together tonight” said Coach Walker.

North Allegheny got the ball to start the game and on the fourth play Logan Kushner found Khiryn Boyd for a 65 yard touchdown. “The deep ball to Boyd was a huge play to get our momentum going him coming down with it is amazing, we’ve finally got him back healthy, and it’s a difference when he’s healthy and on the field, it was a catalyst and it is what we needed” said Coach Walker. “He’s one of the most electric players in the WPIAL, I threw it up to him and he made a great play and got us some momentum” said Kushner.

Pine Richland started their first drive of the game at their own 20 yard line but after a couple of plays they had to punt it away. Thanks to a good punt return North Allegheny started their second drive at midfield and on the third play of the drive Tyree Alualu scored on a 23 yard run making it 14-0 North Allegheny with 5:35 in the first quarter.

Pine Richland got the ball for the second time in the game but when the drive got to midfield it stalled and they punted it away once again. North Allegheny started their third drive at their own 20 yard line. It was a long drive that was finished off on a 1 yard run by Logan Kushner. He played a major role in the win for North Allegheny he had 132 yards on 13 carries and was 10 of 19 for 264 yards. “He’s a special kid, 3 year starter, once you put the offense on his shoulders, he’s got guys to get the ball to, he had some great runs that were real impressive tonight” said Coach Walker. That made the score 21-0 North Allegheny with 11:56 in the second quarter.

North Allegheny’s fourth drive of the game started at their own 8 yard line . On the second play Logan Kushner connected with Evan Lyon for a 66 yard pass down to the Pine Richland 26 yard line, a couple plays later Kushner completed a pass to Tyree Alulalu for a 6 yard touchdown making it 28-0 North Allegheny with 7:25 in the second quarter. “It was definitely a good game, I gotta credit the O-Line and receivers for doing their job the whole time, we were just able to execute the whole time” said Kushner.

Later on in the second quarter Pine Richland finally got on the scoreboard on a 3 yard run by Tanner Cunningham. The drive was setup by a big punt return down to the North Allegheny 3 yard line. That made the score 28-7 North Allegheny with 2:06 left in the first half.

Before the first half ended North Allegheny added one last score when Logan Kushner found Khiryn Boyd for a 13 yard touchdown pass. Boyd also played a major role in the North Allegheny win he had 5 catches for 162 yards. “When he’s 100% he’s a big difference” said Coach Walker. That made the score 35-7 North Allegheny at halftime.

Pine Richland got the ball first to start the second half but went three and out and punted it away. On the first play of North Allegheny’s first drive of the second half Logan Kushner scored on a 54 yard run which put the mercy rule into effect.

The last 2 scores of the game were both field goals. North Allegheny’s Peter Notaro kicked a 48 yard field goal making it 45-7 and then in the fourth quarter Pine Richland’s Grant Argiro kicked a 38 yard field goal making the final score 45-10 North Allegheny.

Next week North Allegheny travels to Mt. Lebanon and Pine Richland hosts Central Catholic.
