The Penn-Trafford Warriors ended their regular season 9-1 after a dominating 42-14 win over the Latrobe Wildcats on senior night.

The game, which took place at Warrior Stadium on Oct 24, started with a bang for Warrior senior QB Nate Desmond, who ran in a 3-yard TD less than one minute into the game. This was followed up with a made extra point by sophomore Jack Miller, putting P-T up 7-0.

Despite this quick score, P-T struggled to find a rhythm, something they have struggled to find at the beginning of most of their games this season.

This struggle was helped by a 9-yard TD pass caught by junior Nick Ponko and thrown by Desmond to end the first quarter. Miller makes the extra point, putting the Warriors up 14-0.

The Wildcat offense was not ready to be silenced yet, however, as freshman Dante Durigon ran in a 12-yard TD. An extra point was made by Mitch Horner, and P-T’s lead was now only 14-7 with 4:12 left in the second quarter.

The game did not stay close for long thanks to an 81-yard TD by P-T sophomore Cody Yacamelli. Miller makes the extra point, and the Warriors now led 21-7 to end the first half.

Yacamelli continued his scoring into the third quarter with an 8-yard TD. This was followed up by an extra point by Miller, and P-T was starting to run away with a 28-7 scoreline.

An onside kick put the Warriors back on offense, allowing for Yacamelli to find junior Landyn Stikkel for an 18-yard pass for a TD. Miller made his fifth extra point of the night, and P-T was now controlling the game up 35-7.

Heading into the final quarter of action, P-T started to cycle through their non-starters. This allowed Penn-Trafford senior Nico Cox to find the endzone for the first time in his varsity career with an 8-yard TD. The extra point was made by senior Evan Sadler, and P-T extended their lead to 42-7.

Latrobe attempted a last-ditch effort with a 13-yard TD pass thrown by junior Ty Wisniewski and caught by senior Rob Young, which put the scoreline 42-14. P-T would run out the clock to end the game with that scoreline.

Penn-Trafford ended their regular season 9-1 and will have a chance at a playoff bye next week.
