The Penn-Trafford Warriors beat the Kiski Cavaliers 33-7 on Friday, Sep. 20 at Dilt field.

Penn-Trafford’s Tyler Boss
The game started off with little scoring as both teams made attempts to move the ball down the field with small runs. But incomplete passes and flags did not allow any points to be put on the board until 3:31 left in the first quarter when a rushing touchdown was completed by Penn-Trafford senior, Tasso Whipple. The extra kick made by sophomore Logan Hunter made the score 7-0 in the Warrior’s favor.
The score would remain the same heading into the second quarter where Penn-Trafford continued with their MO of swapping in and out their senior quarterbacks, Jonny Lovre and Derek Carr while Kiski continued to rely on their senior lefty quarterback, Carson Heinle. The quarter was filled with some long runs by Carr, Whipple and Kiski running back Landon Kucic but more flags for both teams did not allow either side to put up any points. With just 20 seconds left on the clock it looked as though the Warriors might score with two long runs by Carr but the half ended before they could score.

Kiski’s Austin Nelson
Coming into the second half the Cavaliers were aggressive with solid runs by Kucic and Heinle but an incomplete pass and a holding call forced Kiski back to a 4th and 8. The Cavaliers chose to go for it which turned out to be a good call as senior wide receiver Aven Shirley rushed in a touchdown. A made kick by Austin Beck made the score 7-7 with 4:14 remaining in the third quarter.
Penn-Trafford was quick to answer though with a touchdown by senior Micheal Cheplick on the kickoff return which put P-T back on top 13-7. The Cavaliers tried to keep with a lot of running including a first down by Kucic but yet another holding call to Kiski’s offense plus a sack ended their chances of tying it up in the third quarter.
Cheplick’s touchdown seemed to turn a tide for the Warriors as heading into the final quarter they seemed to find another boost of energy starting with a rushing touchdown for Carr just two minutes into the quarter putting Penn-Trafford up 19-7.

Some great defense by P-T allowed the offense to go back on and allowed for more good runs by Cheplick and Carr. This gave Warrior senior Jack Weishaar the opportunity to score his third touchdown of the season and Hunter to make the extra point to put Penn-Trafford up 26-7 with 6:25 left.
A sack of Kiski’s quarterback by P-T senior Brandon Long allowed the Warrior offense to take the field once again where sophomore Colton Tyburski had two long runs. These runs allowed Penn-Trafford freshman Cody Yacamelli to join in the touchdown scoring with a 20 yard run. This touchdown along with Hunter’s third make extra point of the night allowed Penn-Trafford to make the score 33-7 with 2:05 remaining in the final quarter. Kiski tried but could not do anything with the very limited time left and the game ended with the final score of 33-7 for Penn-Trafford.
Penn-Trafford will play Plum next Friday at home for their homecoming game and Kiski will play Franklin Regional away at 7 pm.
