The Penn-Trafford Warriors keep the sacred victory bell following a second-half comeback win over the Gateway Gators, thanks to junior Ben Grabowski’s two touchdowns. For an explanation of the tradition of the bell, check out the X (Twitter) video below.

The game, which took place on Oct. 3 at Warrior Stadium, started strong for the Gators with a 23-yard touchdown pass thrown by freshman quarterback Mayson Mitchell and caught by junior Kacey Carter. The extra point was blocked, but it was enough to give Gateway an early 6-0 lead.

The Gators continued to extend their lead with a 17-yard touchdown pass thrown by Mitchell to senior Shawn Moorefield. The extra point was made by freshman Jackson Mikulandrich, and Gateway was up 13-0 through the end of the first quarter.

Warrior senior Nico Casciato started the rally for P-T with an 89-yard touchdown on the kickoff return. The extra point was good by sophomore Jack Miller, and P-T started to attempt to close the lead as they were now trailing 13-7.

Both teams showed strong defense, stopping either one from scoring until Gateway’s Mikulandrich found the goalposts with a 26-yard field goal with 5:50 left in the first half.

The first half ended with a 29-yard touchdown pass caught by Gateway’s Moorefield, thrown by Mitchell. Mikulandrich made the extra point, and Gateway would be ahead 23-7 heading into halftime.

Despite being down, the Warriors came out of the locker room with energy, and it was shown on the field with a 58-yard touchdown run by Grabowski. The two-point conversion was successful with a pass thrown by sophomore Cody Yacamelli and caught by senior Jake Briggs.

Now with energy and the homecoming crowd on their side, P-T did not let up. Kicker Miller quickly made a 36-yard field goal, shortening Gateway’s lead to 23-18.

Grabowski’s second touchdown of the night, an 18-yard run in, and a two-point conversion run in by senior Nate Desmond put P-T ahead for the first time all night, 26-23.

Despite strong efforts by the Gators, their fate would be sealed with a fumble recovery in the endzone for a touchdown by P-T junior linemen Travis Moorhead. Miller made the extra point, ending the game with a final score of 33-23 in favor of Penn-Trafford.

Penn-Trafford will take on cross-town rival Franklin Regional next week, while Gateway will take on Woodland Hills.
