It was a night full of turnovers for Woodland Hills. Penn Trafford forced five turnovers in the 38-6 victory. “Those guys were up to the challenge, we knew how good Woodland Hills was” said Coach Ruane.

Penn Trafford started with the ball and they had a good drive going but they ultimately ended up turning the ball over on downs. Woodland Hills also had a good drive going. They were in Penn Trafford territory but on one play the ball was fumbled on a run and Penn Trafford recovered. The score at the end of 1 was scoreless.

It didn’t take Penn Trafford long to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter. After a big 36 yard run by Ethan Carr they were at the 1 yard line. He would score on the very next play making it 7-0 Penn Trafford. Carr played a key role on offense in the win, he had 119 yards rushing running for 2 touchdowns and passing for 2.

Woodland Hills ended up punting it away on their second drive. Penn Trafford started at their own 38 yard line. The drive featured several big runs, and it ended with a touchdown when Cade Yacamelli ran it in on a 1 yard run. Yacamelli also had a big night he ran for a touchdown, caught a touchdown and also had an interception on defense. He had 130 yards rushing. “He had most of his yards after contact, he was breaking tackles, he was finishing runs, he had great vision on a couple runs tonight, he’s been dynamic the last couple of weeks running the football the way he can” said Coach Ruane.

On the second play of the ensuing Woodland Hills drive they fumbled the ball and Penn Trafford recovered at the 27 yard line of Woodland Hills. However penalties doomed Penn Trafford on the drive and they ended up not getting any points.

Woodland Hills got the ball back but yet again another turnover ended the drive this one being an interception. “I think another key was our secondary covered long, we told the guys they were going to have to cover longer than they’re used to, and they did a good job, and that helped us contain their quarterback” said Coach Ruane.

This time Penn Trafford took advantage of the turnover scoring on the second play when Ethan Carr found Brad Ford for a 27 yard touchdown. Penn Trafford got 3 more points after another interception making the score 24-0 at half. The second quarter was obviously the big moment in the game scoring 24 of their 38 points. “We seemed to rebound after a couple of turnovers and the momentum shifted in our favor” said Coach Ruane.

The second half was for the most part uneventful. Penn Trafford got a touchdown late in the third and also in the fourth quarter. Woodland Hills did end up finding the end zone very late in the game making the final 38-6.

Next week a big showdown looms for Penn Trafford when they travel to take on rival Gateway next Friday.
