
Pittsburgh Central Catholic defeats North Allegheny in lopsided second half

On Friday night Pittsburgh Central Catholic defeated North Allegheny 27-14.
The game began with North Allegheny forcing Central Catholic to punt and then scoring themselves two plays later. Liam Flaherty ran the ball in a few yards out and were up 7-0 less than two minutes in.
Central Catholic worked fast on their next possession with a 7-play, 80 yard drive that resulted in a QB sneak by Jy’Aire Walls, and with a two-point conversion the Vikings led 8-7.

North Allegheny drove down the field on their following possession, however their field goal attempt was blocked. This began a scoring drought that wouldn’t be broken until mid second quarter.
Central Catholic’s Billy Leach would tack on three more points from a 54-yard field goal giving the game a 14-11 score that was held until halftime.

North Allegheny had a drive that was lasting almost five minutes until Central Catholic’s Zac Gleason picked off Bradey Brinkley.
Central Catholic’s Elijah Faulkner would capitalize off the turnover with a 17-yard rushing TD. The VIkings took the lead with that making the score 18-14.
The following drive had the same result, just with Colsen Gatten intercepting the ball and returning it for a pick-six.

North Allegheny never found the end zone as four of their five drives resulted in a punt and the other drive ended in a safety in favor of Central Catholic.
With this win Central Catholic is 4-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play and will play on the road at Shaler (2-4) next week.
North Allegheny loses its first game of the year and is 5-1 while 2-1 in conference play and will play Mt. Lebanon (0-6).
